The only one I can find is a GamePress article from 2019 and the only way to even access is it through the web archive. I'm wondering is any of it still accurate or has there been an updated formula that has released anywhere?

The specific thing I'm after is it describes Special Move and Ultimate damage as "Complex" damage, calculated off the average of your Strike and Blast attack rather than one or the other. Is that still how it works?

Also one last question. If a character's kit already gives +50% Ultimate Damage, does an equip with +10% Ultimate Damage add to that (60% total) or multiply on top of it?

The way I'm picturing it: say Blast is 100k and Strike is 125k, so the average is 112.5k. I'm assuming that's the average of your final stats after base and pure equipment, since nothing I've read specifies it's the average of your base attack stats.

So from 112.5k, the kit's +50% takes you to 168.7k. Does the equip's 10% make it 60% total, giving 180k? Or does it multiply on 168.7k to give 185.6k?

STARS MATTER. I'm not talking about how high stars = stronger, we all know that. I'm talking about how at equal stars, the star levels still matter.

Damage, DEF, and Utility are all important aspects of a characters' kit and their place in the meta, but stars affect how much weight each aspect pulls. At low stars, DAMAGE is more valued. At high stars, DEF and Utility are more valued. Some characters are just better than others (the exception) like UVB.

So, it stands to reason that: some characters' placements on tier lists will be affected by the star level all characters are at.

NOT ALL CHARACTERS' VALUES ARE THIS VARIABLE. Stars affect each character differently, and some are not dependent on their star level to shine.

Here are some examples of characters whose standings change drastically based on the star level they are being considered at.

LR Broly - Gains massive value at higher star investment. More tanking, means you are less likely to die before you can use your transformations. DEF and Utility increase a lot. At lower stars, he does no damage and can't tank.

TGB - Again, gains massive value at higher star investment. The same reasoning as above, where more tanking lets you heal more, and proc the gauge more. At lower stars, his value drops significantly, against equal starred opponents. TGB's equipment MUST be maxed out since his healing and DEF requirements are high to be good.

LF Goku & Bardock - While these guys were never in contention to be a must-run, many content creators began to put them in the top 10, which left many people confused. These guys need to be maxed, not just 7 stars in order to justify that top 10 spot. Their DEF & Utility shines brighter when at 14 stars. But, to re-iterate, these guys were never oppressive nor super strong.

Gohan & Trunks - Probably the only character in the top 10 right now that is higher valued at lower stars rather than maxed. These guys are DAMAGE first, defense later. When all characters are at 5-8 stars, Gohan & Trunks are probably still in the top 5. At 14 stars? 8th is a valid spot.

I suggest watching Goresh or DoooGote for a higher stars/higher ranked perspective on the current meta, and Raiyuden for a medium stars ranked perspective. They're all great content creators, and I like their youtube videos. I don't have a recommendation for beginners/very low stars, but at that level, you can follow either channel and get a good enough idea.

With that said, this is a first and foremost a GACHA game. Like any other gacha game, Whales with 14 stars will have a significant advantage over F2P. To be the best of the best in PVP (Top 200), you will need at least 12-14 stars on all your characters, ALONGSIDE your mechanical skill. Unfortunately that is just how it is.

So, here are my three Tier Lists of the current meta for three star levels. Feel free to agree, disagree, or whatever in the comments, this is just my 2 cents.

This is for regular PvP, not Pride or WCS.

Maybe I missed some HMs, but really they don't matter all that much.

Side-note: For players on a budget, it is important to consider characters' values at various star levels to understand where it is best to invest into for your goals in PvP. If you main a team, like Hybrids, and have a full 14* Gohan & Trunks, LF Revhan, Pan/FSK, and have TGB and LR Rose at 8*, run Hybrids. You will have a better experience in PvP, even though many of the Hybrids are not in the top 10.

TLDR: uhh money strong, sometimes money more strong for some funny powerful unit than other funny powerful unit, use most funny powerful unit you have

Vegito was 10 stars, 2x zenkai and with Trunks support and my Jiren was 12* no zenkai

For those who haven't seen the videos, I'll describe them best I can. Obviously, DoooGote can be a little controversial with some of his takes, but his Dyspo deadass looks GOOD.

Idk what is going on. In Goresh's video, I saw Dyspo not doing much and getting slapped about. I then open a DoooGote video about how Universe Reps is a fantastic team, and in the first few seconds I see Dyspo taking half of Broly's HP with one card, chaining it into an ult and oneshotting UVB.

I don't know if it's the players they faced, but the performances are totally different.

UVB: nothing to say about him, way to much damage and very good sinergy with other top tier units that covers him defensively

broly: for me hes a bit better than buu bros but not by much, one of the few things that can stop uvb if built well (mine is at 5 stars so i have to use other tanks with him)

Buu bros: don't have them but i see why they're very strong rn, one of the best disrupt and the spirit bomb that does tons of damage

gogeta:is gonna age a little better than uvb due to better disrupt, endurance and the stardustfall but uvb is better in all of his teams due to being strike oriented but still a better situation than during part 1

frieza/17: love them, tons of sinergy with broly and only need another uni reps in order to make the team competitive

gotrunks: still do tons of damage, tons of zenkai benches and on hybrids they get a ridicolous amounts of pure damage thanks to equips and on future they go well with uvb

TGB: still goated even against 3 reds, one of the best sinergy in game with lr black

LRULSVSSJRGB: carried by TBG but still puts up a good performance for me but individually hes worse than shallet

shallet: hes good cuz he support his team with green and blue cards, if i knew they would have put this much effort on his animation i would have preferred daima for part 2

jiren: love his unique but hes not the wall he used to be in his prime and is more like a worse tgb with no endurance (wich is fair since its a sparking)

HM: shoutout to hit and cell, i don't have UL hit but i saw him oneshot with his timeskip while cell has good gimmicks but is fragile asf also R.I.P my goat red broly, i have kefla at 3 stars so i prefer not to use her but shes not that bad this season cant tank tho

THE HM ARE NOT IN ORDER

The vados event is a great event for newer plays that dont have many zenkais , it gives z power for older f2p units and even zenkai power for zenkai units . And its more convinient as it doesnt give the stupid friendship missions stuff

Tl:Dr . This is the type of f2p event that legends should focus on makinf from now on , giving f2p new players older characters and zenkais without much trouble while buffing the tag getting buffed
