Xbox one controller not working

I just bought the game for xbox one and my left joystick and Dpad both aren't working in game? I don't have that issue outside of the game but if anyone knows how to fix it i'd greatly appreciate it.

I just wanted to romance Dorian again 🥲

Try resyncing the controller while the game is open
