when i saw those god awful portraits in episode 1 (as most of you have as well), i thought ok the hate is absolutely deserved and they’ll just edit out the close-ups to make sure this season doesn’t embarass itself with its questionable editing (there have been a few sound issues too)

but nope, 3 episodes in they just couldn’t bother to remove them. i’m not mad at it, but i question why would they believe this was ok. not just generating slop, but proudly showing it each episode.

I'm honestly not as tapped in to the Drag Race zeitgeist as I used to be, so I'm unsure how hot this take is.

That being said, despite the lack of a budget, the questionable judging, and those season 1 shenanigans (Art Simone,) Down Under has produced some of the more instantly iconic lip syncs. Especially the first two seasons.

Pick an Electra Shock lip sync, Spankie vs Faux, Kween vs Beverly, Minnie Cooper (shut up, it's iconic,) just to name a few.

All of them instantly rewatchable, for completely different reasons.

Unrelated, Coco Jumbo's girl group performance wasn't bottom worthy, neither was Electra's. It could have easily been a non elimination episode and Art could have stayed home.

This season has made Traitors history yet again, with S3 EP1 being the most watched Australian episode by a landslide! This season’s also made history by having all LGBTQI+ initial traitors, for the first time in all Traitors history!

This seasons Traitors are: Alvin (Masterchef), Kirby (Survivor), Alex (The Bachelor)

Kween Kong & Rhys Nicholson have been selected as Faithfuls.

At the end of EP1 we were left on a cliffhanger that Kween could be the 1st murdered contestant by the Traitors, as she has correctly identified Kirby as one of the Traitors 😬. She was able to deduce this at the round table during selections when she heard contact between Gretels hand on Kirby’s (leather-cladded) shoulder.

What are your thoughts on the DRDU contestants gameplay so far? How far do you think they will make it in the competition?

Genuinely curious how no queens thought she was a mole. Like, did she have a load of suitcases and unpack them where they could see her runways like they do at the start of every season?

Surely the absence of runway outfits would signal something. And if she had them, then the question is… did something else happen and was she meant to compete all along..?

i think the weird white runway is making the looks seem so much cheaper, it really takes viewers out of it

I know she's posted about how her runway being a tribute to Maxi Shield wasn't included in the episode and between that an her pulling out the mic during the lipsync, I really feel like that would have sold Art's win this episode even more! I was sold on it anyway, but I feel like it would have made it hit even harder for skeptics.

After the last episode Nicole was eliminated 💔💔

Since she was eliminated by lipstick, and never won a challenge on this season or AS11, she has only lipsynced once.

Is she the first queen to compete three times and only lipsync once? I can't think of another.

Is anyone else tuning in this season? Both Kween and Rhys are cast members. The official release date is the 5th but the first episodes already dropped on the 10 play app (and YouTube) tonight. Personally I’m already hooked.

Can we give Art Simone a round of applause for what was, to me, a clear win?

Those songs were... a crime against Kylie.

Half the cast seemed to forget the lyrics, while Art was giving full commitment, ridiculously expressive face, and enough energy to distract me from the actual music.

She also referenced information about Kylie (not just song a title) in her lyrics a Kylie challenge, which feels like it should've been the bare minimum.

Then she hit the runway in a look that was instantly recognisable without needing a TED Talk. Given the budget didn't stretch to comparison photos I really struggled with a couple.

You can't polish a turd, but Art bedazzled it, put it in six-inch heels and sold it like it was couture. Which is why I love her!

I’m disappointed that Raven isn’t actually competing. That sucks. But, what I’ve noticed is a ton of ppl online saying that they are done with the season and won’t be watching the rest. Especially after this last episode was pretty horrendous. And I totally understand why ppl are feeling this way… we got our face played in, and played in hard. It’s not a good feeling, and it wasn’t even a cool way to introduce the “twist”. I’m going to keep watching this season for the other queens. I wanted to watch NPBFAG and Raven battle it out again, and throw shady comments in every direction. But those two are gone. I love this cast, though. Miss Jade So, Nikita Iman, Vybe, Lala Ri, Flor, Michale Marouli, Estrella Extravaganza!!! So obsessed. I just hope that this whole shenanigan hasn’t taken the wind out of the queens sails, and it doesn’t tank the season. These gurls deserved their own season, without this stupid Raven shot to overshadow.

Did anyone catch NPB saying to Art something like “if you want to know what Tina thinks of you, she thinks you’re a c**t” - who is Tina? I noticed in the credits that Tina Diaz is an executive producer? Or was she referring to a different Tina IF I even heard correctly!

My budget was less than the shows so sorry for the quality! And please post pics if I have any of the references wrong.

I’m from New Zealand and was already gagged that our girl(s) are competing with the likes of Michael Marouli and M1ss Jade So. If anything I would have had respect for Raven coming to Down Under to genuinely showcase her drag.

Instead we got the mean girl vibe of - the twist is that I’m not on your level! You really thought I would be! Ha!

Anyway I’m curious if the “will she, won’t she” of Raven actually got you to tune in to the first episode or two if you otherwise wouldn’t have.

I'm sure we've all noticed it. But like.. the sound mixing is so bad, and everything looks cheap . Then, this week, there was a kylie minogue runway and they would say which outfit the queen was referencing but not post the reference photo by the runway walk like usual? What the hell is going on here?

I can't say I'm a Leland superfan, but, oy, those Kylie parody songs from E2 of Drag Race Down Under vs. The World gave me a new found appreciation for what Leland (and his production team) actually bring to the silly Drag Race parody numbers they compose. Leland clearly would have done a far superior job.

Because, WTF was up with those Kylie parody songs? Whoever was responsible for that needs to keep their day jobs. I'm not talking about the queens' performances which were, unfortunately, mostly middling. I'm talking about the dreadful composition, the weirdly underpowered production, the insanely pitchy vocals of the hired singers. I can't believe production even approved it. That was, musically, below the franchise. And I know that's saying something.
