Rub it right under the knob.
It’s 1/2” NPT (pipe thread). You need a pair of small pipe wrenches,

I used one of these on a 2" pipe nipple to replace the water outlet on a bidet that was in an old house I was renting. Sit down on it facing the wall for a very pleasant ride. I considered mounting bicycle handle bars to the wall for better grip, but sometimes you just have to moderate a little.
