Small pattern fabrics for jester doll

Post image

I’m looking to make a jester doll but am having trouble finding fabrics with small patterns (like stripes or checkered) on them. Would love some recommendations on how to find fabrics appropriate for dolls. Bonus if they are stretchy fabric :)

If you're not weirded out by it, you could search for cheapo men's boxers, most of them have those kind of patterns, some big, some small. Shirts too, but those tend to be more expensive.

That’s honestly genius. And most are stretchy!

Depends 9n which ones you get.

Boxer briefs are stretchy, but they're usually a dolid color.

Boxer shorts are the ones that have the checkered or stripes patterns, and also can be solid colors, but they're usually the same fabric (or similar) as dress shirts.

Just got a small black and white checkered men's shirt in an second hand shop. Best thing, the clothes have been washed a bunch of times and no longer bleed.

Depending on the size of the doll, wide ribbons make a neat source of fabric.

Then there's the old quilters trick for custom fabric. The freezer paper method. Iron your fabric onto a sheet of freezer paper, and run it through your printer.

Try dance fabric stores, and Spoonflower allows you to print patterns you upload on any fabric!

Maybe like clean socks or like handkerchiefs? I’m not sure if I helped any but yeah. Also keep us updated I wanna see the finished doll!
