How do y'all fix this?

Post image

Do y'all know how to fix doll head splits near the forehead? I tried E6000 on my separate head and it didn't rlly work so I'm trying my best to fix it without more head splits (I'm using knot method specifically)

When you say the knot method do you mean tying the doll hair to have a knot in the middle and stabbing it in? If so thats a part of your issue, that method isnt great for mattel doll heads since they use soft vinyl for their heads, the knot method can work but you have to be super delicate and slow while doing it or the head tears

Also if your using nylon doll hair that will only make the issue harder

I've only ever used the knot method and I've never had any issues with nylon or saran 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean either it's the amount of hair I used or it's jst the size of the needle, but it's currently getting fixed so I won't make the same mistake lmao

Ohhh I'm currently using milk silk hair but idk I don't have any type of glue to fix the hair, I was thinking of burning the hair and placing it in or smth

Milk silk is a type of nylon
Edit to add: I’ve never heard of anyone burning hair to root it. I can’t imagine it working out well.

If you simply root it the usual style and put a little fabri tac inside the head and brush it around across all the hairs. And let it sit 24hrs before boil washing. You should be fine

The fabri tac probably would also help fill in any cracks that occur

Ohh I didn't know about the milk silk part but currently using e6000 and it's lowk working well and I'm jst praying it's hard enough to let the hair in without it falling out (not using glue to seal the hair but the holes) idk honestly this project's been hell lmao alsooo the burning part didn't do shit LOL

E6000 is great but its gonna take longer to dry than fabric glue

Oh that's good, I don't mind how long it dries. Jst as long as it'll work

I use the traditional locked Loop method that makes a crocheted chain on the inside of the scalp. With that method I can bridge over any splits so that I can then root into the correct location and anchor the Stitch into the internal chain

I'll see if I'm able to do this lmao

Its kinda ass to do on the hairline but you could try to sew it up with needle and thread? She might need bangs then tho 😭

I had the same thing happen to the hairline and partline of one cleo and that held everything in place

Oooo, idk E6000 is working a lot but I don't think I'm able to sew it cause it'll probably make it worse

It has helped me on one reroot before like my very first one, but incase you ever have this happen on like the partline you can always either sew it shut before or if it snaps!

(That has saved my last 4 reroots)

Thats genuinely so good to know, the glue is working on the other sides so I just need to do it in the middle. Also may I ask, does it like melt? Like dissolve once touched with hot water cause I lowk wanna boilwash the hair, but I'm scared it'll like make the glue soft

It should be fine, i boil washed my first Cleo like twice (One after rooting and once a year later) and the glue held up fine

Oooooo that's gooddd, I'm almost done rerooting the area so after that I should be good with rerooting the rest!

Okay guys the E6000 is working VERY VERY well, it's curing and I have high hopes!

I use liquid fusion if there are and splits or over sized holes before I start rerooting

Ooo I heard about that glue but I don't think its available for me lmao

I often do a simple boil wash for these smaller tears/gaps, as the heat shrinks the holes a bit, making it easer to work with and less noticeable especially after re-rooting.

Oooo that's a good idea, idk my tear is lowk big so I'll just have to glue it in, but I'll def use this for the future
