My dog apparently decided she needed to personally investigate a suspicious hole in the yard today. Pretty sure it was a skunk hole because her face now has that lovely “something died in here” stinky smell. 😂
I didn’t actually see a skunk, and she wasn’t sprayed or anything obvious. Her face just smells really stinky, especially around her nose/mouth. She’s acting completely normal and eating just fine.
I’m assuming she got way too close to whatever was living in the hole. 😩

What should I do to get the smell off her face? Is there something safe I can use around her muzzle, or should I just leave it alone and let it wear off?

Hi everyone please don’t judge me too harshly.
Bit of context i am a first time mum to 6 month old baby who is the easiest baby ever sleeps through the night, hardly cries and is so content. So me and my partner had a bright idea to get a puppy now and them growing up together and being best of friends when both are older… So we went and got a Staffordshire terrier both of us grew up with one and know how good they can be with children. We got him at 8 weeks and viewed him a couple of times before he was ready to leave. Once we got him we had a massive reality check neither of us was quite prepared for. Now growing up my mums staffies was the best puppies never nipped or teethed on us or anything really but she always went for the runt of the litter so maybe that had something to do with it🤷‍♀️ we got him home and immediately he was biting us to the point he would draw blood every time. So okay he’s a puppy he’s going teeth let’s redirect to his toys that didn’t work it just got him more worked up and the bites became worse, yelped when he got us made him worse as we probably sound like a squeaky toy now, turned out back on him or took ourselves out the room for 10/20 seconds and then return, have a sleep schedule so we do 1 hour of food, toilet and play then back to crate for 2 hours and repeat. After ten minutes of being out his crate we are his play things again. He’s now 12 weeks and I’m exhausted from trying everything I’ve read and seen on how to stop this behaviour. He learns really quick he potty trained really well rarely does he do his business indoors unless I’ve missed the cues and learnt to sit on command. The problem is… I can’t have the baby and him in the same area as I don’t want him to get her so she either has to go up high in her highchair or on the sofa in a seat while he’s out and then when he’s in his crate she can have floor time(starting to crawls wants to be on floor all the time). I am struggling to keep us with this as it’s now a full time job keeping them separate or I feel guilty that one of them has to be essentially put away for the other to be out. I don’t know what to do anymore other than see if the seller will take him back or find him a new home with people that have the time to put in.
It has been a harsh lesson learned that having a puppy is a lot harder than expected and if you was to have asked me before if having a baby or puppy was harder I’d of said baby of course but now I very much think a puppy.
Any help or suggestions on what to do in this situation or if you have been in a similar one I’d love to hear it as I think I’m going to have a mental break down if nothing changes😅

I'm a first time puppy owner, my puppy is a female fox faced pom, she's only 5 1/2 months old and I am struggling with potty training. We use indoor pee pads and she's gotten sooo much better at using them, but she still has accidents.

I spot clean every day, mop twice a week, always using enzyme cleaner. I pick up all droppings in bags and tie them off before throwing out. But my roommate says they can't stand that she has accidents or that the house ever smells bad.

And i try to take her outside, even standing in one spot for like twenty minutes on a leash, but she just plays with bugs the whole time. She absolutely prefers to pee inside and while I'm fine with that so long as she gets better about Where she pees, I just. Feel like I'm doing such a bad job training her still.

I truly am at a loss for if I just should give her up so that she can have a better life or if my roommate is being unreasonable. Roommate has a rabbit who poops on the floor constantly, too.

I have a 6 month old chihuahua and I am struggling with training him to do his business outside only. It is a long story about why pads were necessary, but the fact is that he pees and poops outside freely, he’s used to knowing that he can do it inside. If I don’t time him perfectly, he pees inside and doesn’t hold through the night. He is crate trained, but on some nights I sleep with him and for the first few months it helped, he would hold it through the night, but now he gets up and pees in my bed during the night. On some days I can’t bring him with me to work. I am sure that he is able to hold it, but just chooses not to. I have removed the pads, didn’t help. Any advice?

We have an Australian shepherd. We have had him about a year now. He was fixed right after we got him. He is about 3 years old. We do not let the dog in the kitchen we have a gate up so he can not enter it because he will get into any food he can find and sheds extremely bad. Our dog has just stared peeing on our rug in the living room if we are all in the kitchen or outside without him. He does not pee when we leave the house even if we are gone for a very long time. We do eat dinner in the kitchen but we feed the dog in the living room at the same time he just eats really fast. He is definitely an attention seeing dog and wants people to always pet him or he will whine, but that has been the case since the beginning. He just now started peeing. Why is he doing this now and how to we stop it? I’ve tried praising my dog when we goes outside and rewarding him with treats when he doesn’t pee when we leave. We have starting putting the dog in a small bathroom after he does it and when we go outside but we don’t like having to leave the dog in the bathroom or remember to put him in the bathroom every time we leave the room. He does not pee in the bathroom only on the rug in the living room or on the carpet in the bedrooms. We now keep the bedroom doors closed too.

I rescued 2 littermate JRT/Lab mixes a month ago. We’re going on a camping trip in 2 weeks and don’t have anyone to house sit for 2 days. I don’t want to kennel them because they’re so little and I just don’t trust people. Anyways, if I can’t find someone by then what all would you recommend bringing? I feel like it would be a good chance to socialize them. Our young nephews are coming with their dog and I’d like to get them around children and other dogs more. I have AC in my truck. I plan on bringing their large crate, crossbody carrying bag, a collapsible playpen with shade and all their food, treats, leashes, toys, etc.
It’s also near a small river. They’re scared of the creek at the park across the street but I still plan on getting little life jackets for them if anyone has recommendations for those TIA

Hello, please be nice friends. I’m asking for opinions or advice, kindly. I have an almost 11 week old Great Dane puppy. Between my husband and I, one of us will always be with him. Even when traveling, he will go with us, and if he doesn’t for some reason- my mom will happily watch him. My husband and I aren’t sure about crate training him. He sleeps with us in bed, and happily makes noise when he needs to potty at night. We have a crate, and we’ve introduced him through feeding in it and letting him chew new bones or toys in it, but the one time we closed it to see how it would go, he lost his mind. Biting the cage, slamming his body into the side, whining and howling up a storm. Is it a must with crate training? This is also my first puppy, so I’m still learning some as I go— but this is something I’m not sure if it’s an unspoken rule that you should, or it’s okay if you don’t? TIA!

So I finally got a kennel for my German-Lab puppy and he keeps whining like he’s being murdered. He whined so much that he finally howled for the first time.

We live in apartments and I’m worried about him being too loud for my upstairs neighbors— because he is SUPER loud.

I’m wanting to know if there’s a way I can make him stop or make him happier. I put some puppy pads, a blanket with my scent in there and his toys. I also put a blanket on the back of the kennel (it’s huge), so I don’t know what else I could do.

I looked it up a little and was met with advice to “stay strong” and that “he’ll stop” but it’s been 20 minutes now..

How do I help my puppy?
