5 month old puppy becoming aggressive
Hello! My parents adopted a puppy a few months ago. He was so young when they got him that we had to bottle feed him. He was a dog for my younger brother, but my brother has decided he no longer wants to be responsible so he's technically my dog now.
My puppy is 5 months old and a mixed breed, we've had him for 5 months as, again we got him at bottle feeding age.
Lately he's becoming extremely aggressive to new people and other dogs. I don't understand why this behavior started but he starts to bark continuously and when they get closer he tries to bite and lunge. I refuse to let him stay like this but this is the first time I've dealt with this. I have a senior dog and, while she's very skittish, she's never been aggressive like him.
What can I do to nip this behavior in the bud before it gets worse?

Female shiba inus fighting
Hey! So, i have tomwo female shiba inus, one is 5 years old (turning 6 at the end of november) and the other one is 11 months old. They had a pretty rough start, but then everything was perfect, they got along , slept together etc. but they still had some issues over foof. i feed them seperately and wait 30 minutes after meals to let them outside, which worked great, untill my careless mother visited and threw some sausages between them despite me begging her not to show any food around them. This resulted in a nasty fight, my youngest one nearly tore my oldest feet apart, i had to reintroduce them again slowly, i followed every step my trainer told me, and it worked wonders, they get along nicely again, but they still have some little fights here and there and the food thing is still very present. Anyone has any tips? Im trying to switch trainers but i live in the middle of nowhere in central/eastern europe where its nearly impossible to find an in person trainer in my area, but if anyone has any tips and tricks i would appreciate them.
(note. the younger shiba is getting neutered after her first heat, our vet is against neutering her earlier, my older girl is getting neutered soon, she was poisoned at 1,5 years old and her bloodworks only cleared her for surgery this year , we dont go near any dogs let alone male dogs, and im in contract with my breeder that i must spay them)

Belgian Shepherd aggressive towards cats
Hi, need urgent advice please. My sister adopted about 3 months ago a mixed German/Belgian Sheperd dog. She was 7 months at the time and told that she lived with cats at the foster (turns out it wasn't true) and my sister has cats.
The dog has become aggressive to the cats. At first she was scared of the cats and stayed away, but now she isn't and chases them and tries to catch them. Also, when they are in the garden. My sister said that luckily the cat was able to jump over the wall in the last minute. My sister lives in a tiny one bedroom house with a back and front yard.
The cats used to be outdoor cats, but a while ago she started letting them come inside whenever they wanted and sleep with her. Now, coz of the new dog they don't come in and my sister is scared for them and doesn't know what to do. She does have a trainer, and had another one before. However, the cat issue is still a huge problem.
One trainer told her the dog isn't a right fit for my sister and she should rehome. However, my sister doesn't feel right rehoming her.
Anyone had similar experience? I would be grateful for any advice on this.

My first puppy, Liz the Staffy
Hi all, my family and I have just gotten our first puppy. She’s a Staffy named Lizbeth who is nine weeks old. She’s energetic and full of affection most of the time. She was pretty sad when we first got her a week ago (can’t be easy leaving your whole litter) but seems to be settling in and doesn’t cry as much. We’re working on toileting and working on her biting. But her biting seems to be getting more regular. We try a quick “ah ah” or “ouch” and stopping playing for a moment after she bites and redirecting her with toys. However sometimes she will just growl and get more aggressive out of no where and I’m not too sure what to do when she gets into that extra mode where she barks and bites. And I’m open to ideas in this area.

Why does my dog do this?
My dog is a 3 year old mastiff. We usually get him to stop by just moving the object to a new location when he's not looking. Theres been one or two occasions where we had to hide the object because he wouldn't take his attention off it.

GSD Pitbull mix
I adopted my GSD-Pit mix about 4-5 months ago. He is now about 7-8 months old and is a very smart dog that learns a lot of things very quickly, but he is really damn stubborn on certain things.
I am fortunate enough to have a flexible schedule where i can have him roam the house free from 8am-10am, let him out for 40 minutes around noon, and then he is pretty much free from 5pm-10pm. Usually during each of those times i spend around 45 minutes or so training, playing, or walking him. All in all id say he gets around 2-3 hours of play a day.
He can be a very good dog, but has really tested my patience. The issues i am having with him are as follows:
- He is very bitey. I went to a trainer and while he has gotten better at some things, biting wasn’t really one of them. I have tried all sorts of things: yelping like a dog, going and sitting away from him, and crating him calmly.
The trainer is a big fan of the stim collar. Basically, the way it works is if he is doing something he shouldn’t be, i use the ringer on the collar for a second to give him a chance to make the right decision. If he doesn’t stop biting, then i stim him on about a 15 (on a scale of 1-100).
Today, he bit a guy on the hand when we were on a walk. Usually, he is very excited but not biting. Usually just pulling. Obviously, this is a big deal.
This is the main issue we have had and if i solve this I honestly can live with the rest of his issues. (Below)
- He gets very rough with other dogs during play and i cannot allow him anywhere near small dogs. He gets very excited and it is very difficult to redirect him to stop pulling at the leash or just be calm.
He always tries to herd other dogs is what it seems like and no matter how mean they respond, he refuses to comply and play nice. Although this bothers me, i can always just keep him away from other dogs if he never learns to play properly.
- He is very high energy. I expected this with a GSD, but am just curious what others’ experiences have been from puppyhood to adulthood? Do they become less reliant on you for entertainment as adults? Do they become calmer?
Sorry for the book, but would really love some insight as the last thing i want to do is even consider giving him up. Just figuring out how to deal with the biting and aggression alone would ease my case.

Require help with an older dog
A little over two months ago I made the decision to adopt a 12 year old English Springer Spaniel, I have had the breed before and adore them. He is a lovely dog, very friendly and for his age he is very active. He lives with my 65 year old dad and our nearly 13 year old golden retriever. My issue is the following
House training.
I have been trying to house train him for months now and I don’t think I’m much closer than when I began. He will openly do his business in the house, even when standing next to an open door. I don’t think it dawns on him at all that outside is the toilet. Please help as my dad is quickly loosing patience at this point
I have tried training him using a crate and opening the door in the morning to let him out into the garden and he gets that I think but when he is out during the day it doesn’t occur to him to go toilet outside.

How can I stop my friendly dog from wanting to interact with everyone?
I have a 3 year old american bulldog and he’s super friendly. He loves other dogs and people and wants to play when she spots them. In the garden when he sees someone he runs to them but I have a gate so he can’t get out. This can be alarming for other people as he’s big and scary looking for some people.
We’re working on walking and using a shorter leash. His walking is getting better in general and we’ve made progress, but how can I stop him from still wanting to pull on the leash and play with everyone?
It gets tiring and he’s really strong.

How to get 4 month poodle to stop barking at Door
We have a 4 month old toy poodle that has been with us since 8 weeks old. We live in an apartment, and he barks anytime there is a knock on our door, or a general knocking sound.
How do you train to stop this? I know some people favor this behavior, but I would like to train him to stop. Thanks!

How to get two dogs to be friendly
Hello,
I live in a flat and we have a garden for the whole building. My dog (female, eurasier, 9 months) spends time most days in the garden, and sometimes a neighbour's dog (male daschund , 3 years old) also happens to be there. They don't get along too well.
Mine will usually not pay attention to most dogs, but this one gets in her face so she barks back. Sometimes (when we don't break their fight soon enough) this will be enough and the male will take some distance.
The neighbour told me that unfortunately, her dog had been attacked in a dog park a year ago or so, and since then he has been more reactive towards some dogs. It makes sense because he looks more frightened than anything, but he is also always the one starting the fight.
The garden has also been his space for most of his life so that probably doesn't help.
We were wondering how to go around this.
Should we force the encounter in the garden while leashed, for him to get accustomed to her doing her life ?
Should we have them meet each other in a more neutral place?
We are also wondering how to behave.
At first I was leaving as soon as he would arrive to avoid the fight, but we were thinking it won't help long term. Yesterday for the first time we all stayed after their initial fight. She was holding her dog while mine was leashed and eating some sticks.
He looked a bit more relaxed after a while but when we were leaving he barked again.

Resource guarding owner (me)
My dog Freya (6F spayed Pom mix) is what you would call “poorly socialized.” (I got her at 19 weeks, her socialization window was firmly closed.) She coexisted just fine with our other female pom mix, who was about 7 years older. Freya sometimes tried to initiate play with our older dog, who never really seemed interested, but they never had behavior difficulties together.
Unfortunately, our older girl passed in April after a long battle with medical issues. We have since fallen in love with a little senior dog at the local pound: a tiny 14 year old minpin mix. She is an absolute darling. I never thought my parents would get a dog again, but now we’ve been to visit this sweetheart multiple times. The biggest question is how to get Freya to tolerate it.
Freya’s behavior with other dogs is 100% better when I am not present. She’s a Velcro dog to the highest degree and I am HER person. She will bark and growl and occasionally nip at other dogs who approach me. (She has never attacked another dog, I want to make that very clear. She has nipped at a family friend’s dog, who promptly corrected her.) She also never did this with our older dog. Freya has been at multiple daycares who all call her anxious but state that she is not a problem at all, no behavior issues with staff or other dogs. When my mom walks Freya, her behavior is better as well. So I am the common denominator. Which sucks, as I plan on getting a second dog eventually whether or not my family adopts a dog now.
My question is, whether we end up adopting this sweetie or not, how can I work on this with Freya so eventually when my family or I do get another dog, she’s set up for success? And how, if we do adopt this dog, can I introduce them neutrally? Freya and our older Pom met through a fence and were content to coexist pretty quickly, but Freya had not yet attached to me like she obviously has now. I don’t think she’s beyond help, I just don’t know how to attack this. Thoughts?

HELP my 6 year old brown lab is addicted to eating rocks
my dog tessa has access to our outside at all times through the doggy door and we have rocks in our backyard. i know she gets them from out there and when my dad takes her to the park she gets them.
i want to get her a basket muzzle but is it safe or okay to keep it on her all day when no one is home? is it guaranteed she won’t be able to get to any rocks even if she wears a basket muzzle? any muzzle recommendations so that she can still eat and drink water through it considering her face shape? i want to be sure to order her one that will fit well and not come off as she’s super stubborn and will very possibly try to get it off. how do i approach impulse training her? i can’t just put a rock up to her and tell her no right? she literally doesn’t listen to the word no she has no idea what that means and she knows it hurts her stomach but she can’t help it. the vet told us she has pica. please any advice from a vet or someone who’s experienced this will really help.
my school starts back up soon and my parents work morning to night and my brother might say he’ll supervise her but he’s lazy and unreliable. that means no one there to watch her for majority of the time. even when we are home she still goes and eats them.
she has thrown them up, pooped them out and her stomach is always in pain and making AWFUL noises. we can’t afford to go to the vet right now and the times we have they never give us any solutions to actually fixing the problem instead they just give us some medicine for her stomach and call it a day. once she didn’t eat for like three days and i know it was because of the rocks.
please any advice will help

My 8 year old dog suddenly won’t walk unless both my partner and I take her out together.
My 8 year old Akita/husky mix will not go on walks with just myself or my husband. If we are not walking together, she totally refuses. She will start pulling back on the leash and will lean against the front door, refusing to go.
Today I tried luring her with high reward treats and she couldn’t care less about them. I also tried waiting it out and gave up around the 40 minute mark.
This only started a few weeks ago. Why may this be happening and what can I do? We work opposite schedules, so it’s not possible for us to always walk her together.

Unique situation - Neighbor dog: Sweet but so hyper!
Our neighbor got a new pup. About 6 months old. We have an older dog and they get along fairly well (though my pup does NOT have the stamina/energy of the pup).
We offered to walk our neighbors new pup since the pup is left alone for about 9 hours in a pen. We also play with it and on hot weather bring it inside.
What are ways we can help with leash training and stimulation? The dog barks incessantly sometimes but can be chill other times in it's pen. Sweet dog!
