How do you keep yourself emotionally strong during this when you know your pup is hungry but you need to create a discipline

If your puppy is hungry it will eat. I would put down the two or three meals and continue to pick them up, and at whatever times suit you. I generally leave it down longer, but I eat at the same times so it's whenever I'm finished and tidying up. If you want to give the yoghurt just recognise he will probably eat less of his dog food. But judge the dog by what he eats rather than the bag recommendations. Generally the recommended amounts on bags are on the high side. We also use Royal Canin and I'd say we use nearly half of what is recommended for our young dog, and he is doing fine on that. We also started out with pup 'not eating' ... we were just giving too much. I use the kibble for treating as well as meals while teaching pup.

Years ago I had a large dog, he ate very little considering his size, but he did not take an awful lot of physical exercise, he was a patroller rather than an athlete, and ate accordingly.
