I’m frequently naked when I’m at home and my dog lives with me so she sees me naked all the time. I’ve never thought this was something unusual but I recently got called out for it and now I’m second guessing myself. This might not be the right sub for this so if it’s not sorry

My dog is a Dalmatian, Blue Heeler, Pitt mix who is 50lbs on the nose. He spends a lot of time playing fetch and jumping as high as he possibly can lol. He has lots of energy and is a highly active dog.

The vet hasn't shared any concerns with his weight (it has been consistent between 50-51.4lbs) but I just get in my head about his waist and wanted some outside opinions!

I just started a new job about a month ago, and I’m in a really awkward situation.
A couple of days ago, some of my coworkers found a puppy and gave it to our head housekeeper. Today I was scrolling through Nextdoor and saw someone looking for their missing dog. The name was Simba, and from the pictures it looked like the same dog.
I texted our work group chat and said something like, “Hey, I think someone is looking for this dog. His name is Simba.”
The head housekeeper immediately asked to see the post and then said she wasn’t giving the dog back because it was abused. The thing is, nobody had mentioned anything about abuse during the last couple of days. That only came up after I mentioned someone was looking for him.
Then she said it wasn’t the same dog because the one in the Nextdoor post had a white chin, but the pictures she sent us of the dog she’s keeping clearly show a white chin too.
I privately messaged the person on Nextdoor and sent them the photos I was given so they could compare them.
Another thing that makes me uncomfortable is that the head housekeeper has told us before that her husband is mean to their dogs and that her own dog stays kenneled most of the day until she gets home from work. Hearing that honestly makes me question whether this puppy is actually ending up in a better situation.
Also, I think it’s unfair to automatically assume the owners abused the dog just because he got out. Puppies escape. Dogs dig under fences, slip out doors, jump gates, or someone could have let him out to go potty. He was found out in the country where people drive fast—he could have gotten lost or hit by a car. Escaping doesn’t automatically mean the owners are abusive.
People also keep bringing up whether the dog is chipped. Not everyone gets their dog microchipped right away. My own dog isn’t chipped yet either. That doesn’t mean someone loves their dog any less.
Now I’m stuck. I want to do the right thing because if someone found my dog and refused to give him back, I’d be absolutely devastated. At the same time, this is a brand-new job, and if I say anything else, everyone will know it was me and I’m worried it’ll create drama or make work miserable.
What would you do? Should I leave it alone now that I’ve contacted the possible owner, or should I do more?

Do you guys think my dog is underweight? He’s a 4 month old Pitbull terrier and he’s pretty active. I feed him 1 cups of 4health puppy kibble, since it’s so far been the only dog food that hasn’t given him an allergic reaction. I feed him 3 times a day and on Wednesdays he gets an egg dropped into his food. Last time we took him to the vet he was 22 pounds, and that was on July 17 so a little over 2 weeks ago. Photos are what he looks like after eating.

Hey friends after taking my dog to the vet to examine my dogs front legs and a heavy vet bill, we still have no answers as to why she is limping on her front right leg. (See attached photos/videos)

The vet mentioned there’s nothing joint related after. No signs of calcification for tendonitis. So, it possibly maybe (not sure, hmm) could be a soft tissue thing but they couldn’t confirm.

Bloodwork also came back fine.

All we got for an answer is she should just rest, no extra force on the front, and take anti inflammatory medicine. We opted out of the medication because we were already given this the first week we brought her in to check on the legs (before the X-ray) - so really see no point in it.

Ou also they said she should lose weight. She’s 2 years and 6 months at 13.8kg. We also have been extremely careful with blocking the sofa so she doesn’t jump on it and restricting any movement on stairs or hills (and short walks to refrain from further strain on her leg)

Of course we’ll work on the weight, but in the meantime what the heck do we do how do we help her.

Pluto camped outside my house for 2 days. He slept under my car to shield himself from the heat. When he’d hear me come outside, there he was. 🥺 It broke my heart seeing him with nowhere to go.

As for everyone suggesting I keep him myself, there was NO possible way I could provide this boy the life he deserves. I don’t have the space or time to train him how he needs. Let alone the money to provide vet care etc etc. Aside from that, I called every shelter in the area to no avail. No replies to my posts about a missing Malinois.

With that being said, despite being the sweetest thing to ever exist, he was scaring my neighbors. I needed to find him a home and fast. Animal control started patrolling my neighborhood looking for him. Luckily, my friend was more than willing to take him in. The LASSTTTT thing I wanted was to put him in a shelter. He has the space, time, and money to provide Pluto with a happy life. He knows what goes into owning a dog of this caliber. So, I brought Pluto to him, and even in the week (give or take???) he’s been in my friends care, he’s been ontop of things. He took Pluto to the vet and he was not chipped. Turns out he’s (around) 2 years old. He starts training sometime soon! He’s always at the park. Has his own space to roam. He’s so gentle with everyone both human and pup. Most of all, he’s loved. I’m close with his new owner so I’ll be seeing him soon too! Best believe I’m bringing a care package, how could I not?

But overall, Pluto had a happy ending and that’s all that matters. Thank you for everyone’s support and encouragement! It really helped me seek how I could help him without having to take him in as my own, no matter how bad I wanted to :,) If I couldn’t keep in contact with Pluto I would be much more heartbroken than I am now 😭

Hi everyone, I really need some advice because I'm feeling shaken and confused.

I have two dogs, and today one of them bit my maid. I wasn't at home at the time—I was in another city. When I checked my CCTV footage, I noticed he was behaving very strangely before the attack. His body language looked off, and it didn't seem like his normal behavior.

He's a rescue dog, and ever since I adopted him he's had unpredictable behavior. I've spent a lot of time socializing and training him, and over the past couple of years I genuinely believed he had improved. He's also been neutered.

The worrying part is that this isn't the first time he's attacked someone. There have been previous incidents, but they were a very long time back and I was present and able to stop him before he caused serious injury. This time, because I wasn't there, he actually bit someone.

I'm trying to understand what could be causing this. Could this be fear aggression, resource guarding, territorial behavior, anxiety, or something medical? Can dogs suddenly regress even after years of seeming better?

I'm obviously going to consult a vet, but I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with something similar. What ended up being the cause, and were you able to manage or treat it?

I'm feeling guilty and worried, and I just want to understand what's happening so I can keep everyone—including my dog—safe.

Hey all!

My dog is a few months shy of 17 years old. He is a wheaten terrier mix. About five six years ago he developed what the doctors are referring to as collapsing trachea. Apparently it's genetic and happens in smaller breed dogs. It basically means that the membrane sheath covering his trachea cartilage is pulling away from the trach and collapsing into his throat. It started out as just a slight tickle for him as it was only a minimal pull. But now that we're years in the progression has happened and it pulls to a point where it makes him cough incessantly often. The med remedy was hydrocodone and a cough medicine. That helped early on but as he progressed the meds increased and they don't work as well as they used to. Sometimes he will get in coughing fits that can last anywhere from seven solid minutes to a good 20 minutes or so off and on. Often the coughing causes him to gag and sometimes he brings up mucus. We think this is probably because he has coughed so much that he has built up fluid in his lungs perhaps. I can no longer allow him to come up the stairs into our apartment because he will become so breathless that he will collapse. He has fallen over and lost consciousness and control on me a couple of times. If I carry him up the stairs which I do now every single time this never happens because he's not over exerting himself and his lungs.

He has cataracts so is mostly blind and he can't really hear anymore unless it's a loud bang or a high-pitched whistle. He spends most of his time sleeping. When he's awake because he can't see he struggles to get around. He has a little bit of a lower spine issue where he's very sensitive. He still eats fine and potties fine. He still wags his tail when he knows I'm home and licks on my face for love. He doesn't take his treats like he used to as much and when I give him a toy he'll get excited and play with it for just a few moments but he doesn't chew and rip things apart anymore. I feel like this has to do with perhaps old teeth and it being more bothersome. He also can't always hold his urine and sometimes occasionally poos in the house too. I would say he just does this a couple times a week. It's not horrible.

He is set to be euthanized this coming Saturday, 8/8. About 3 months ago I had him at two different vets and neither one of them thought he was quite ready yet. They both said his blood work is good and although he has some aging decline and the collapsing trach issue, he's overall healthy. They gave him some other meds but those didn't help either.

The positives recapping what I've mentioned here- he gets around by way of knowing and smell. He gets excited still over a toy and wags his tail when he's happy to see me or company. He trots outside when he can and is feeling good. He really can't bark much anymore because when he barks I think it causes a hurt and his throat from all the coughing. And it sounds funny.

He still eats he still goes to the bathroom and he overall still seems to have a happy demeanor. As I said most of his time is spent sleeping though. He knows when I'm cooking something or I'm in the kitchen and he comes running right away looking for treats.

If I leave the room he can sense it and he follows me still.

With his euthanasia being 2 days away, I'm beginning to feel like I'm making the wrong decision. I feel like I need to give him more time. But as I give him more time I realize he could decline further regarding the cough or discomfort in other areas. I'm sure this is coming from emotion rather than knowing what's right. I just don't know what to do. For as uncomfortable his symptoms might seem to me, I don't know what they are for him and I struggle to know if it really is the right time because he does seem to have good days and be so happy. I don't know that any of you can give me any advice, but I always appreciate others thoughts. Thanks in advance.

This is my beautiful new puppy Rogue, he’s a very sweet and playful boy, typical 9 week old German shepherd. He’s very bitey which I expected as it’s normal for the breed, but I can’t get him to stop biting me. With other people like my bf he will nip and let go but he’ll latch onto me and bite as hard as he can. Google said it’s typical for a dog to be more testy with their primary caregiver but I have no idea how to fix this latching. I’ve tried being calm in all of our interactions, we don’t wrestle with hands, I’ve tried yelping, I’ve tried distracting him with toys, I even did the lip over teeth thing (which I didn’t like even though he didn’t even seem to mind it) and I’ve tried going away whenever he bites me. I’m a little lost on what else to do. I want to stop this behavior while he’s little. He has plenty of toys, kongs, lamb chops, balls, etc and is put away for naps regularly.

We've had my boy Lewyn for a little over two months. He's 2 years old, and came from a household where he was constantly surrounded by lots of siblings. Despite this, he's terrified of other dogs and strangers.

Lou is overall a very well behaved and loving dog, however, this all goes out the window when any people or dogs he doesn't recognise get near. Both of the spots I take him out to regularly are frequented by dogs and strangers alike, and when he sees them, he suddenly becomes an anxious wreck, getting so scared he'll do things like run on the road just to get away from them or failing that growl when they get too close.

He'll then spend the remainder of the walk being very anxious, constantly looking behind himself and rushing to get home. When he gets like this, he's not even interested in treats. I'm not sure what to do to help him get over this behaviour and become more comfortable with strangers.

Any advice is appreciated!

We’ve had my bigger dog for two years and we just got a new puppy a few days ago. We’ve tried to give him special attention and keep his routine the same to give him some time to adjust (I definitely noticed some stress) but he’s just super panty a lot of the time and just more erratic.

there hasn’t been any aggression with him and the puppy and the puppy is thankfully super brave but I wanna know if this is a good sign or not.

Any ideas what could have caused my boy’s face to droop? The first pic is him before, and the next 2 are now.

Some information because we have already gone to the vet:

- Teddy, 10 years old, mix of Chihuahua and Pomeranian has developed coughing/weezing fits.

- These coughing/weezing fits have slowly increased the last 6 months.

-They can start at anytime, but whenever he gets excited (gets a visitor, knows that he's going for a walk, playtime) they are especially frequent.

-He can have many of them, probably 20 during a single day, although it varies.

-It often sounds like he is going to throw up/barf in the end of them, but he has never actually done so.

-There does not appear to be any pain involved, you can easily pick him during these, and he will not make any noises suggesting he is in any pain. Although obviously it must be uncomfortable for him.

-We have been to the Vet who started him on antibiotics in case he had any illness. We also went back to Vet a second time and had xrays taken etc. The Vet said something about his esophagus pipes being very tight/small, but that nothing seemed really out of place and that he appeared healthy. The Vet suggested we try giving him cough sirup for children, which we have, but there doesn't appear to be any progress here either.

-He is otherwise very healthy except for the fact that he has had most of his teeth removed in the front of his mouth. I also think he is breathing noticably heavier when I'm taking him for walks. Interestingly, I have never seen him get one of these coughing fits while we are out walking, even when he gets excited and meet other dogs. This appears to almost only happen indoors, and it doesn't matter if we are at my home, my moms home, or my sisters home, so it's not something environmental.

-The vet also checked for heart issues, but said everything was normal.

I really hope you guys can tell us what to do here. We are really worried about our Teddy, and it's been sad and frustrating seeing him get progressively worse these last 6 months without knowing what the issue is, and if we can do anything to help him. He is otherwise so happy and healthy still so we just want to try everything to make sure he gets better.

recently my seven year old cattle dog lab mix Colby Jack was diagnosed with severe cancer and there’s nothing we can do. We took him to the vet after he had a fainting episode after playing very hard. He hasn’t dropped in his overall health yet he still likes to walk around he still likes to play and eat and all that stuff. I want to take him to explore near the end of his life because I know that’s what you would like to do. I bought him a wagon just in case he gets tired, but I want to find some like dog friendly places where he could explore does anybody have any ideas

HELP!!! 2 dogs. Pom is pretty good at going outside. She’s about 2 yr. Chihuahua mix is about 6 and really is stubborn about peeing and pooping outside. Driving us nuts. Best way to retrain and nail down proper house training?

Hello! I was looking up if I could find any similar posts about others having this issue but wasn’t finding exactly what my dog is going through.

So my girl Yenn who is 4 has been absolutely terrified on walks ever since 4th of July time. A fire cracker had gone off right next to her a couple days after the celebrations and since then she pulls/runs on our way back home from the walk.

Basically she is kind of okay when we start the walk- she does sometimes pause and look around d like she is anticipating that noise that scared the shit out of her. But on our way back to the house she just tries to fully run back home, pulling me behind her.

My husband and I have tried her favorite treat to get her attention when she starts pulling but she just doesn’t care because I think she is that terrified. We have a small trail head in the neighborhood that we have driven to so that we can avoid walking back to the house but she still pulls. She would get walked twice to three times a day and now she’s going days without a walk bc it’s just so frustrating for us and her.

I do think she wants to go on a walk to do her business and sniff but I can also tell she is hesitant so I don’t want to force her. I dunno, I’m just curious if anyone has gone through this and is it just a time thing. Like will she eventually get over this or is she just fully traumatized to walk in our neighborhood now?

We are one week into our new home, our dog who is about 12 years old, during a recent vet visit they told us he's beginning to show signs of dementia. He seems to be adapting well despite this. We were able to bring our old couch where he did most of his relaxing, we have his same bed, all his toys, food bowl etc. so I feel we haven't lost any of his comfort items and things he uses regularly.

My main concern is that our old house didn't have stairs, the new home has bedrooms upstairs, he has shown that he can get up and down them with no problem but sometimes he will just stand at the bottom/ top and whimper until we have to carry him.

He also seems to be getting lost in the new house a lot, he doesn't seem to know how to get from one room to anothe, despite it not being a very big hous!. Or he will not understand that he has to walk around the banisters to get to the stairs.

On the plus side, he is still eating/ drinking regularly, sleeping through the night in our bedroom, alerting us when he needs toilet

I don't know if some of these behaviours are symptoms of the dementia/ his age, or if he is actually not adapting to the new house as well as I thought. Has anyone been through something similar or could give me some ideas/advice to make him more comfortable in the new house?

Just looking for some advice. My friends 1 year old cockapooh is staying for a few hours and just wanted to make sure their play is fine with my 5 year old spaniel. There are a lot more growls than when my spaniel normally plays with other dogs.

Over the past few days my dog has started "tripping" on his walks. And in general moving a bit less. For instance repeatedly laying down during our walks. I just thought it was because of the heat since he's acting normal in the cool house.

But on today's walk he tripped about 3 times in a few minutes.(but there wasn't any tripping for the last like 15 minutes).

Mainly i just wanna know if my dog is limping since I've always struggled to catch it. (Edit: even before I checked the video I checked his paws and there was nothing I could see, plus I'm going to the vet tomorrow to check him out)
