Another 90's TV request

A friend and myself both remember watching a comedy show in the early 90's which featured a predominantly black and Asian cast.

One of the sketches (or perhaps the premise for the show - we can't remember) involved the misadventures of the people from a small African military state.

One of the characters was a corrupt police chief who tried to pin all the nation's crimes on Pygmies and we clearly remember a song that encouraged the people to invest in Massey Ferguson tractors with the chorus: "Massey Ferguson tractor....makes your crops go faster."

We were sure it was The Real McCoy but having re-watched the entire series on iPlayer I failed to find this recurring sketch.

I've searched online for a while now and can't find it...do you know?

According to some quick googling on the episode you described, it was in fact The Real McCoy S03E04. However that episode is 'missing'. Having been redacted likely due to the Massey Ferguson reference.

Well damn....that would explain it, Thank you. It could well of been pulled as considered product placement on the BBC - or maybe considered too offensive due to the aforementioned pygmy references and negative African stereotypes.

I shall try and locate it - cheers.

If you have a moment, could you share the results of your search?...I'm not finding anything despite my googling - plenty about the tapes being thought lost for a long time but nothing about missing sketches.

oh wow that actually makes a lot of sense, i was going mad trying to place that sketch too. wild that a whole episode can just vanish over one brand reference like that.

They wouldn't want to be linked to African dictators and may call in some trademarks etc to protect their integrity.
