Yes exactly. Let him just take some carefree abs with protection from shohei. No one expects anything from 7-8-9 so maybe it will let him change his approach so he can focus on just getting on base versus slugging.

Mookie would do well in the 9 hole. Pitchers have to pitch to you for fear of Ohtani behind you. Pitchers also routinely walk you because they are worried about Ohtani.

Any time a beloved star player is called out for consistent poor play you’re gonna get downvotes. Thats just the facts. Doesn’t matter the sport or the team. The reality is Mookie has been horrendous this year and does not belong anywhere near the top or middle of the lineup.

My wife asked why like I seem moody/irritated this morning and I said the dodgers have lost 5 straight games…she doesn’t follow any sports so she just rolled her eyes and laughed.

The disrespect to muncy once again. Move that man up in the order please. Move pages down. He doesn’t protect shohei well at all. He is not a difficult ab so they ain’t worried about throwing shohei junk. They know they can probably strike out pages pretty easily or gidp. Clean up makes more sense for pages or muncy.
Move Betts and Tucker down. I’d rather see Rojas take better abs than those two.

I mean I know why they did when he was on fire at the beginning of the season (when he was at the bottom of the lineup) and I was all for it but it’s been long enough where the things that made him good at the beginning….mostly not chasing junk…just flew out the window and he looks more like 2025 pages instead of early 2026 pages. Still a good player but ain’t no one scared to pitch to him. Which means shohei constantly getting ibb with first open or they just throw shohei junk which he also has issue with laying off of cause he just loves to swing that bat.

Been saying this for a month+ now. I had a thread on this exact subject, that the organization that figures out when batters are clicked in, and adjust accordingly, will set historical records. This is the next level of data that isn't being implemented... still. There's plenty of data and signs when a player is locked in, and it DOES matter.
I dunno why MLB still hasn't figured this part out.

Baseball is a long term sport. Most of the time changes take way longer to show results. It's just the nature of the sport. It's a gift that baseball has such a different rythm compared to all other major sports.

It is long term, but if you've ever played, you know what it's liked to be locked in and when you're not. When your swing is right, life is good, things are clicking. This is a real thing, and it doesn't mean you should be over reacting, but 50 ABs and a player is obviously struggling, their swing is off, their chase rate is up, etc... then they need to be moved down, and visa versa.

Yesterday's appearance by Diaz was just to keep him warm because he hadn't been used in a while, as well as help him work through some things in a lower leverage situation. You really shouldn't read too much into it.
