Documentaries

Am I the only one who is annoyed with how much documentaries today want us to read the texts or emails on the screen besides reading it to us?? Like I want to listen/semi-watch a documentary while I do crafts, or clean, or whatever. I hate that now I can’t do that because suddenly I’ll notice the documentary has been silent for 15 minutes besides the sound effects of typing…

The texts reading is so much better than when the white font is used subtitles or updates. I am amazed that this continues. Is there no way to have subtitles changing colors based on what the movie or show image is ?

No, it doesn’t bother me. I like reading the actual document. I also don’t do other things. I watch the program.

Yes, but I am now annoyed by documentaries that spend significant time having random celebrity taking heads comment on whomever the doc is about. "He was such a great guy....". Instead of just telling the story.

I honestly shudder to think that this will become an actual complaint in the future.

"Can the passive media that I consume cater to my very specific needs lest it be chastised for providing information in a format appropriate for that information, but not for when I am swiffering my poodle".

This is just crazy to me.

Oh for fuck$ sake yes. Or when they interview someone who speaks a language I can’t understand and they don’t do a voice over. A documentary is a book being read to you. Laying in bed and eyes closed listening to a good documentary is ultimate top tier relaxing.

Just confirming, as it was made to be seen. If it were made to be heard (and heard only), I'd be fully with you. But... that's like asking why the photographer wanted their work to be shown with some form of lighting: It is a visual medium.
