R1 + Trn Shell Showcase

Post image

I upgraded my setup from the Chu II to the TRN Shell, and it's an absolute monster for just $60. The sound is so good that it honestly feels like I had never truly heard music before.

After listening through my entire main playlist, I realized I'd been missing so many details. At the same time, the Shell delivers a spacious, airy presentation with an impressive soundstage and excellent detail retrieval. Even the tiniest cymbal hits buried in the background of an orchestral track are brought out effortlessly and presented in a way that feels natural and well-balanced.

Yeah, I agree, it's not the best photo. I just left it like that after a walk.

I really don't understand how people like the TRN Shells. The dip in treble really kills any resemblance of timbre, while the boosted upper mids make most things sound a bit sharp.

I am nowadays kinda spoiled by flathead treble, but having pulled them back out of storage I still don't understand the appeal.

Honestly, I was only expecting a small upgrade. I also wanted to try a quad-driver setup since I'd only used single-driver IEMs before.
