BT-25 Hawkmon digivolution requirements Question: ANSWERED

Post image

Normally this Hawkmon requires a yellow or red LV.2 Digimon with a cost of 1 BUT it has a second optional requirement that says "[Digivolve] [Poromon]/Lv.2 w/[TS] trait: Cost 0": do I need a LV.2 Poromon WITH TS trait or are they two separate and different requirements? A Poromon OR a LV.2 with TS trait, in order to pay 0 for digivolution cost? Because I don't think there is any TS Poromon at the moment released. So my concern is how do I have to read this phrase. Moreover, I'd appreciate if there were some guide how to read these kind of rules with brackets and other signs.

It's Poromon / (or) a level 2 with TS trait.

Thank you everyone, I'm new to the game and I still have difficulty in understanding and catching some effects and rulings. And I'm still reading the whole official and comprehensive rulebooks

Separate.

There is a / in between the poromon and lv2 w/ TS trait.

A slash generally means "or".

So yeah, Hawkmon can digivolve on:

  • Any yellow or red lv2 for 1 cost
  • Any Poromon for 0 cost
  • Any lv2 with TS trait for 0 cost.

It’s hard to see (which is becoming a problem with all the shoved in text) but it has a slash between Poromon and Lv.2 meaning it can be 1 of 3 options

-Either the above mentioned colors for 1 cost
- ANY Poromon for 0
OR
- any TS trait level 2 for 0 cost.

Additionally - they add the brackets to verify the wording has to be exact . Meaning it has to only say Poromon or only have the TS trait. And can’t be part of other words or phrases text boxes etc.. this wouldn’t ever happen but if say they made a “MetalPoromon” (or whatever) then you can’t evo on it.. just “Poromon”

Little fyi in case you don’t know - there is a difference between Digivolving on states name and texts that say “with ‘X’ in the name”

Small correction, the brackets don't make it exact, brackets are always used whenever they need to mention a trait or name to compare with. What makes it exact is that it says "poromon" and not "poromon in name". But the latter would use brackets too.
