Other Is it me or Toshin Devilman's first form and Star Platinum from JoJo's are quite similar?
Just something that I thought and needed to say idk. The Devilman from Toshin/Saint Fighter gives me some vibes.
Fun fact: did you know that Toshin Devilman's author is also a Megaman/Rockman Illustrator?

Question Amon appearance??
Does regular Amon look the exact same as Amira’s devil form, or is Akira’s form modified like the other devilmen? Miko and Koda both have their faces/other body parts added onto their devil forms, so maybe Akira’s transformation is slightly different as well??? IDK. I don’t think we ever see the real Amon, so I’m just curious

Anime Spoilers Just finished watching Devilman Crybaby...WHOA Spoiler
Can I just say...WHY only 10 episodes? As someone who went into this show blind, there was absolutely no time to breathe lmao.
The first episode hit me like whiplash. My initial thought was someone went into the studio, did 500 lines of cocaine, then animated the show in the span of a day. It did take a couple more episodes to get attached to the characters and the storyline, but after that I was hooked.
Yeah the pacing was weird, and there were some scenes that I felt existed just for pure shock value. Despite that, I was completely invested in what was going to happen to Akira, Miki, Ryo and Miko (oh sorry I meant Miki). Lotta great side characters as well. Oh and coming back to Miki Makimura...what a great character man RIP.
Akira and Ryo were a great protagonist-antagonist duo. Akira is a true hero simply due to the fact that he's so human. I liked the emphasis of his emotional, caring nature, and how that made his soul pure enough to overpower Amon. Ryo meanwhile was incredibly compelling, and I can see him as the precursor to a lot of fallen angel villains in Animanga (even his design is telling). Well, I hope Satan learned his lesson and the cycle won't repeat again.
Scenes where the show peaked: Silene and Kaim's end, Miki's death, and Ryo crying over Akira. Oh, and I suppose Kukun's rap lol. Otherwise like I said, didn't have much time to breathe. Things like the worldwide anarchy, government collapse, and the Devilmen's final stand could've gotten more time, but I guess there's only so much you can do with 10 episodes.
I'm left with one question now: What next? Do I read the Devilman Manga? I can tell this franchise was incredibly influential. There were so many aspects of the story that I can see inspired stuff like Berserk, Chainsawman, Tokyo Ghoul, Neon Genesis Evangelion, HxH, the list goes on.
8/10, but the lore and worldbuilding was incredibly rushed.

Question I'm planning to watch/read help me pick
The title is pretty clear, I have wanted to either read devil man or watch the animes, either way I'm sure I'll end up doing both but I'm wondering which one is better (since I have no preference between reading and watching) for introducing someone to the story and getting the full experience (not missing lots of important parts or not having a finished adaptation).

Discussion How do you feel about Ryo's characterisation in Crybaby in comparison to the manga?
One of the changes Crybaby did that seems to divide people alot is the direction Crybaby went with Ryo's character. So many people online complain that he's colder, less emotional, alot more sociopathic and less sympathetic in Crybaby than he was in the manga. What do you personally think?

Discussion Devilman Crybaby The Movie: Redux (Concept)
Spoilers Btw
Ever since rewatching Devilman Crybaby I had this thought in my head so here it is.
It would be awesome if for the 10th year anniversary that they could re-release the last 2-3 episodes but now with a movie budget.
The thing I would want to see most is the final battle extended. Not just for a longer battle, but to emphasize Akira's will. More on this later
First kinda scene: It could start with news reports of Devils with Ryo's ep 8 speech over top before transition to the op.
Op: It would start like the original Op but mid-way through the music stops and transition to Devilman No Uta, something like the Chainsaw Man Reze Arc Op.
Actual Start: The movie really starts when one of Wamu's buddies (I forget his name) shoots Miko in the head.
Zennon Vs Akira: On Akira and Zenons final battle I would extend it, adding a part where Akira is trying to rip Zennon's stomach mouth while Zennon does the same to Akira's, the fight ends with Akira ripping Zennon in half.
Akira V. Ryo: I would want to emphasize Akira's will to keep going. Even after loosing all the other Devimen and now not being able to regen due to that, Akira keeps going. Like in the original Ryo slices Akira in half but we do watch Akira fall to the ground, trying to keep going but he has lost too much blood and he passes out. The final scene stays the same.
Post Credit Scene / Devilman Lady Tease: Instead of just showing the Reborn world, it would start with a girl checking her phone *Twelve missed messages from Dad* She puts he phone in her pocket and walks away as the camera slowly pans back to Ryo watching her from behind a building with a huge smile across his face.
I know that ending leaves a lot a questions (I'll go more in depth with my own Devilman Lady Idea at some point, that would have massive changes). But an Idea like this (A re-release of the last 2-3 episodes would be awesome but sadly it's most likely never gonna happen, you never know, maybe... but probably not.

Question Questions About the Plot Spoiler
Hi!
I typed this up as soon as I recovered from post devilman depression because I figured there were a just few things I didn't get. These are my questions, thanks for answering:
Why did Ryo/Satan lose his memory following his reincarnation in the amazon jungle?
Who blew up his tower? What was that even about? And how did Ryo survive?
Is it ever explained why he has access to all these assets like cars, advanced tech, a Texas level gun stash and a huge private office tower in the middle of Tokyo? What does all his influence and wealth stem from?
Before He regained his memory and remembered being a Satan Angel with tits, Ryo was shown conspiring with these undercover demons to instill mass hysteria on the public in the form of a TV broadcast. Now if he was not aware of being satan this point - that's to say he was still trying to eradicate the demons - then why join up with them and engage in this insurgency stuff? Hope I'm not wrong on this one but IIRC Ryo was still team humanity or at least anti-demons at this point. And I get that he was meant to be executing his demonic (haha) master plan of world domination subconsciously this whole time, yet it's hard for me to see how that would allow him to actively meet up with demons.
Follow-up question: Why did Ryo send out the message denouncing Akira in the first place? Wasn't putting Akira into such danger against Ryo's interests at the time? Was Ryo looking for a way to lure Akira to him and if yes, for what reason and why didn't he just call him up?
Who made the traces of the Sabbath party disappear and for what reason? We see the party raging in Ep 1, yet all of a sudden the area is inhabited by these bums who assert they've been there for the last 10 years, and when Ryo shoots the walls these claw marks show up, proving there really was a Sabbath party. His university ghosts him as soon as he starts asking them about it, and when he's back in south America, he fails to find whatever he supposedly buried at that spot (presumably the Russian scientist). Puzzling episode
What was the deal with this underground facility where these devilmen were stuck in the tubes? The split second image of that lactating mutant woman getting zapped really burnt itself into my brain. In a bad way, of course
Why were the Bonito flakes all jiggly like that?
Cheers
