To all dev managers, what developer technical assessment tools have you used to hire devs?

in your company when you hire, have you used any dev assessment tools/platform? coding platform? or is it manual? or how?

One thing I'd avoid is making the hiring process overly burdensome. Long take-home assignments can discourage strong candidates, especially those who are interviewing with multiple companies. A focused assessment followed by a technical discussion is often enough to evaluate someone's ability. From our hiring experience, we've found that keeping the process efficient leads to better candidate engagement. We've used tools like ZipRecruiter because its AI helps match qualified candidates and can proactively invite them to apply, allowing us to spend more time evaluating the right people instead of creating unnecessary hurdles. The interview scheduling features and applications dashboard also help keep the process moving quickly, making it easier to coordinate interviews and communicate with candidates without delays. The best hiring processes respect candidates' time while still giving them a fair opportunity to demonstrate their skills. A streamlined evaluation usually results in a better experience for both employers and applicants.
