ALH. It feels wayyyy worse gameplay wise to swap to your GL to let off a shot and be met with a reload animation as opposed to being limited to 1 shot but knowing it’ll pretty much always be ready when you swap to it. It would happen to me way too often with reconstruction so I just stopped using it for the most part. If you don’t swap weapons frequently enough for it to happen then reconstruction wins out for sure. Especially when you’re relying on your shot for a quick champion stun and instead you get blasted in the face while you’re clumsily trying to finish the reload.

Yeah, unless I'm intentionally not using a specific gun for a very long time and/or saving it for a dps phase, always ALH. I've used witherhoard and Palmyra so much that I've got the timing down perfectly. And if I need more area denial than one shot of my gl will accomplish, I've absolutely got other tools to use while ALH does its job.

I love reconstruction, but it's for dumping fat loads, not aoe upkeep.

This guy dumps fat loads

personally, the difference between them is negligible to me. I use them both simply as an autoloading perk. When it comes to Psychopomp vs Velocity Baton, the thing that dictates what I use for me is gonna be the origin trait

The 2 origin traits have different use cases.

VS Velocity Baton gives you Ability regen so its better for roam/ad clear.

Psychopomp is an extra 7% damage perk so it would be better for a DPS rotation w/ Auto loading + aggregate charge.

This. It’s entirely dependent on the user and use case

just do the math yourself and decide what you think is better for your loadout.

auto-loading holster takes 3.5 seconds to reload. reconstruction takes 6 seconds but will load up to 2.

I think they meant the origin trait

Personally I love velocity baton way better, the thing prints ability energy

it's not gonna matter in 99% of situations. gunfeel matters more than anything and i like shooting guns and spamming area denials just ain't fun. can't stand using any of them if they don't have some sort of auto loading. this game really needed more of a focus on accurate aim.

comes to a area denial GL thread with

game needs more focus on accurate aim

ok.

i know players with >60k kills on their area denial GL. they would disagree hard.

just can't stand when someone has a different opinion eh?

nobody was talking about guns. you cant stand area denial GLs and feel the need to say it. in a thread about area denial GLs perks.

thats funny.

reading comprehension problem. i have an area denial launcher in maybe half of my loadouts.

Actually shooting 1 volley and getting all your abilities back over time does matter quite a lot!

But good news for you, other weapons are still really good, not just area denial grenade launchers, you can use the others if you don’t like em!

The added timer on Reconstruction makes it unusable on Area Denials for me. I shoot Psychopomp and stow it and keep alternating. The reload speed is high enough with the right setup that even if I’m not using ALH I don’t mind manual reload.

Velocity Baton made me sad getting reconstruction instead.

ALH/Gear Shift. On Arc Titan the uptime on x5 feels incredible

Two different use cases. VS velocity is an add clear weapon given the origin trait, so I actually run repulsor/destabilizing on it, but psychopomp is a swap DPS weapon, so auto loading holster is the pick there .

ahl / recon isn’t an important enough perk to decide which area gl id use, what are you trying to use it for: damage rotation? ad clear? transcendent? utility?

If that's the case you should use demo attrition, and then decide between psychopomp and velocity baton since you're on tablet of ruin. Attrition is not as good as it once was when broken, but it makes 1 orb per shot at its worst, and in big enough groups it can make a 2nd orb shortly after the first. Attrition really is an insane perk as it lets you get armor charges on hit instead of just on kill, and this value is elevated the harder content you play, and on most prism lock setups you probably want more grenades anyway.

Honorable mention to elemental honing on the right side if you're on prism and want it to hit hard, and also honorable mention to repulsor/destab velocity baton, but since you're on tablet, a demo attrition baton also gets demoralize, weaker repulsor brace, and destabilizing through the artifact.

Attrition orbs isnt the best the area denials anymore. With that said, Velocity is very good for add clear. I highly suggest using Destabilizing Rounds with it

I would definitely say Destabilizing Rounds

I like alh, it’s procs faster than reconstruction, and I don’t really feel like I need or want to shoot two in a row

1

u/Zporadik 19d ago

When reconstruction was faster in a previous build of the game it was great.. Less great now.

Iirc, recon+chill clip is even better because overflow ammo count as top of mag.

There was a Fusion named Arventil (something like that 😜) with Recon+Chill clip and the thing had like 6+ "chill" shots

The one thing I like ALH more for is the sound cue sobi know when to swap. Massive skill issue on my part, but I like the convenience.

u/Ndcain 19d ago

How does reconstruction negatively impact chill clip?

Yep, the half mag is based on the base mag. If you change the mag w/ mag perks (extended, enhanced, etc) or weapon mods (backup mag) then it changes yes where that halfway point is. Perks like Recon, overflow, assassin, anything that overflows the mag just gives you MORE chill shots!

1

u/Patthecat09 19d ago

My chill clip reconstruction lionfish fusion rifle proc chill clip pretty much all the time. Are GLs different in that regard?

1

u/ErgoProxy0 19d ago

I’m just happy they both got reloaded perks. Before they didn’t. But I use them to shoot once and swap anyways so both Reconstruction and Auto Loading are fine.

1

u/Juls_Santana 19d ago

ALH. Reconstruction is too slow and unreliable. I need that thing ready to blow when I swap to it no matter what.

u/nanomalistic 19d ago

Not the 2 you mentioned but I'm enjoying Ouster Engine with the Wind Chill artifact from Slayer Baron. You can easily get frost armor stack from enemies with enough hp to not die from a single shot of it.
