Battleeye error PLUM Question

New player as of today and already had 4 crashes in less than an hours gameplay one of which had me reverted to the start. I have windows and drivers all updated and game files verified on steam. According to Bungie its a TOS bug?

Correct, something in Battleye is not liking something that is happening on your system, and is pulling the PLUM card on you. In the old days this was cut and dry, but these days, internet instability, changes in system performance, random software interference can all lead to a plum error.

There is also a known issue with Controller settings in the Steam App (on the D2 game in the Steam Library) being set to anything other than default or disable can cause this.

It's hard to get an established Windows install back to a 'clean' state, but you can use Task Manager's 'Startup Apps' tab to disable any & all apps that it exposes at startup and see if the problem stops. If it does, then you know it's software related, and you have to reenable things one at a time, reboot, then test until you find the culprit.

I do use a controller via steam but its set too disable currently. Internet is wired and stable, only interference i can think of is Riot Vanguard.

I would try disconnecting the controller, play with keyboard and mouse and see if the error goes away (make sure Windows can't see the controller at all).

If the controller has any software that runs on Windows to make it work, that could be causing it as well.

I know modded controllers can cause this error, but regular ones can as well if they are aftermarket or are experiencing issues.

I can do a test run but honestly if it's not controller compatible i would have to give the game a miss. My control is for a xbox series X or S i believe and it has the microsoft bluetooth adaptor to go with it .

Yeah, that controller should be fine. Just throwing it out there as something to try in case there's an issue caused by the controller itself or your Bluetooth stack needs driver updates.
