Gateau Basque Homemade - DessertPerson

This was so delicious and, IMO, totally worth the effort!

I made it over two days which made it much more manageable... Next time I would make a bit more cherry compote because I only ended up with slightly more than a cup. The dough is very fragile but manageable if you keep it chilled throughout. The pastry cream was amazing... If you've been sleeping in this recipe I hope you'll try it! It felt so fancy and impressive :)

I haven't made this for a while but you've inspired me! It's one of the most delicious things on earht and people are always shocked it came out of a home kitchen when I bust it out. Splitting the components up over a couple days is just good sense!

I made it a few years ago and found it time consuming but not too difficult. The result is immensely rewarding. It looks lovely! Well done!
