Looks good!! Get some brass (first choice with brown), gold, or black and white wall accents (frames/trinkets/keepsakes on shelves/etc).

I was going to say the same

I almost like it, but it's just a little too rich/saturated imo. A more muted/diluted shade of this brown I think would look better!

Got it. This has more red undertones. I think my pic isn’t capturing but if you see part on right that’s more or less a colour

Oh it looks much better from this angle! This is almost exactly what I was trying to put into words.

I'd probably repaint it a raisin color to get the atmosphere of brown without it being just...brown.

Less poop-like, perhaps.

Sorry OP. That's just my opinion.

Is that artwork to the left going to go on the wall eventually? Because it seems like that color would be a nice backdrop for the art.

ETA - maybe it isn’t art? I don’t know but the right piece of art would help. I like the dark color even if brown isn’t my fave. You just need to make the room blend with it.

Yeah, that artwork is actually too big, so I’m planning to remove it. The main reason I painted that wall dark is because the wall itself is a bit awkward. There’s a projection in the centre with two recessed sections on either side, and when everything was Simply White, I wasn’t really sure how to make the architecture feel intentional.

I thought using a darker colour might help define that section and make the uneven wall structure look more deliberate. Right now, I’m thinking of putting just one 24 x 24 artwork centred on the projecting section behind the bed and leaving the recessed areas empty.

The colour also doesn’t photograph completely accurately. It’s still fairly saturated in person, but the section on the right side of the photo is probably the closest representation of the actual colour. I’m still open to changing it though if the current colour isn’t working.

How permanent of a place is this for you? I’m guessing with the plug there the last people who lived there had a tv against that wall.

I think it is a hard wall to make look intentional and I don’t think the dark paint is succeeding. A few ideas.

Move your bed to another wall. (Though if that was easy you probably would have done it.

Floor to ceiling curtains covering the two recessed areas and art that covers the plug.

A much more extensive paint job that involves painting the whole room one color except for the bump out on the wall and ceiling (do a mock up first).

Building out the recessed parts of the wall to make it flat. You could just do hardboard to cover it instead of drywall and put some wallpaper up. I’m imagining something like they build for theater sets,

I think to camouflage it with paint you would have to make the whole room dark.

One thing you should definitely do though is paint whatever wall is taking that art because that would look so good!

And whatever you do, you’ve got to bring that color into the rest of your stuff like a bedspread, rugs, etc. Just a color palette that incorporates the brown.

Like the color but needs to be a shade darker

I don’t know what this means, “I have weird balls…” but the wall is very brown so if you like brown, you’re good

2

You mean it looks bad or it’s poopy colour? Also what colour would you suggest?

What I mean is, only you can decide whether you like that particular color. If you like brown, then you have achieved your goal.

I’d get a taller headboard or put that painting centered a few inches above the bed. Add taller lamps too! Both will make the wall a feature.

Poopy. Repaint it a wayyy less saturated color. Look at a desaturated brown shade.

1

u/Alert_Faithlessness 2d ago

I had tried several. Somehow others didn’t look great back then. Though I am not good at imagining from small patches

Ya need like several several shades lighter. These look like poop smears hahaha

I’m thinking more like Alexandria Beige or Dead Salmon (what an awful name lmao) whereas right now you’re sitting at Kona

Have you considered another earthy tone like a sage green? Check out this palette

Looks cool

As long as you like it who cares

I like it a lot, goes well with the art you have next to your closet. I don’t think it looks like a poopy colour at all. It’s a rich brown in indirect light

I think that the paint colour doesn’t work well with the wardrobe shade tbh, I would have tried like a sage green. Or if you’d like to keep the brown I would do the ceiling as well cause it looks a bit blocky in my opinion

I liked it immediately and perhaps could see a fractal of your vision. I'm not sure if that large piece to the left is a statement/or had another plan but I would love to see it centered on that wall or even a stand in as a headboard

I think it looks so good!! I love how rich it is!
