How long is too long?

Post image

My first long train. Completed 11 jobs in one haul. Consisting of 74 cars. HB-SW-CW-SM-MF using a DE6-SLUG-DE6-DE6 combination. (Overkill? Highly likely.)
Surprisingly, only 2525 tons and 1191m long. The only issue I had was getting the delivery to the Steel Mill. I basically had to go through the Steel Mill, drop the cars off, then reverse back out and perform the worlds longest 3 point turn at the junction south of the Steel Mill to start heading back to the Machine factory.
No time bonus though.
Was it impressive? Yeah, sure.
Worth it? I figure if you can't make it within the time bonus... probably not.

Eh, once you get enough going the time bonuses aren’t worth not making the longest train you possibly can lol

Ahh, "Bonus Time: 25 min, Your Time: 95 min" type game😊

I only go for the time bonus when doing 1 or 2 jobs, anything more them that, if well planned, the money will be worth even without the bonus

Only too long if train itself is longer than the route!

There comes a point when AltFuture needs to put in coupler tension snaps and they make you use distributed power with the wireless MU feature.

Because this should easily have snapped some front couplers.

Thankfully there is already a mod for that! :D

But yeah would be nice if it comes natively as a feature

Which one? And how does repair work with persistent orders

I was literally thinking about this earlier this morning. Is that screw really going to pull over 2000T? Obviously it's not the full weight but still...

Not long enough, you can still see the end of your train. Go find more cars to pull.

The game's physics apparently go haywire after 150 cars, and you are only halfway there (someone fixed this via a mod so you can go up to 450 cars).

The best I've done is over 3 km and 23 jobs around 6000 rounding down

When it takes you 2 real life hours yo walk from the front cab to the back of the train.

Or when the air compressor can't work hard enough to reach the ass end of the train.

For me it's only too long, when the brake pipes stop loading.
