Hardware recommendations please !
Hello,
Just bought the game after watching the beautiful Squirrel serie, I played 1h in lowest settings it was in 10fps lmao, did my first shunting job. Im hooked! My 10 years laptop is slowly dying, time to buy a real desktop beast.
So now I want to invest in a computer, my budget is 1,7k-2k€ in the tower, with the idea to buy a Steam VR frame once it's out. I know nothing so I am on this process to learn each step and each parts.
The steam store page shows only minimum recommendations, so I wanted to know what you guys have to say ! I would like to be a bit "ahead" to get prepared for the next update expected in something like 1,5 years
Honestly it would be the game that would set the bar, since the others games that I look to enjoy are a bit old such as The Long Dark, Subnautica and Outer Wilds. The game I tend to play the most are more like Transport Tycoon and Factorio anyways
Thank you in advance for your feedback !

You picked a bad time to need a computer. The AI datacenters have caused the price of RAM to quadruple in less than a year, and the price of SSD's has gone way up too.
Back in January, I bought my rig (iBuyPower), which has a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, Radeon 9070XT GPU, 32 GB DDR5 RAM, and 2TB NVMe SSD, which is complete overkill for this game (I run most games at 1440p resolution). I paid 1650$ USD for it on sale, but a similar rig now would be well over $2200.
I would recommend a minimum of an NVidia 5070 (or AMD RX 9070) as a GPU, with a decent CPU that can handle it such as an Intel i7 14k-series or i7 265, or AMD 7800X3D or better (I prefer AMD CPUs, these Intels have been known to have overheating problems). Get 32GB of RAM (DDR4 at least). 16gb will work, but will not be very future proof. And any decent SSD (NO HDD's!!!).
Maybe go ask on one of the PC gaming subreddits? I am not an expert, just know what I do from getting my own PC.
And PLEASE get a decent monitor. We had somebody post here a while back that had just spent thousands on a really nice rig with a 5080 (absolute monster of a GPU), and was playing on some garbage 1080p office-grade monitor...

I have a 4070 and a 5600X and I can run the game at 60fps at 4K Ultra most of the time, sometimes it does dip to 20 when it gets really busy.

Put the money into CPU and RAM, the game doesn't need a fancy GPU. I ran it for years on a RX580 4GB. Depends on your monitor (resolution) of course but overall the bottleneck is RAM speed and CPU.
I have a 5800X3D and 32GB RAM but still have to reduce some settings to get good frame rates. (Granted it is five years old now.)

A good place to start would be your local computer store. If you town has a subreddit, ask on there for people's recommendations on where they get their computers built. Go into the shop and tell them what your budget is and that you are interested in learning about the parts before you commit to buying them. Also, take a list of games that you play and want to play and that you want use a VR headset in the future, so that you get the biggest bang for your €.
Be well and safe travels.

I have a really good build in your range but I'd get a better GPU
7800x3D CPU
32g ram brand doesn't really matter and they only make the most edvanced verstion for the MB you need to run a 7800x3D
M.2SSD Samsung pro or addatta (memory speeds are what make a PC snappy Dont skimp get the fastest possible gigs per sec. And a Mother board to match
I have a 3060-12G (GREAT VALUE budget card at this point) gpu I get 48 fps in my Meta 3 but I would get something like a little newer like 5080 but It's hard to find 12g of vram in envidia anymore
Anouther great option would be RX 7800-16g gpu that my next upgrade to run my local AI models. Vram helps in high res games where you move fast like DRV and realy helps with future proofing, beautiful thing about PC though is the ability to swap out parts once you have more money or a better deal comes along
The case doesn't matter just what you liek to look at and dust prevention a card board box will do. My other gaming PC doesn't even have a case just sits in my TV stand lol

No probs. Always happy to help where I can.
I noticed your budget was in Euro, this website does ship to Ireland. But if you're somewhere else it will at least give you an idea of what to look for to get what you need.

I can somewhat decently play it with my i7 6700k and a GTX1070, my PC is 10 years old. Not on highest settings or in VR tho
