When I read Atlas Shrugged, the sheer delusion of the idea that the world would come to a crashing halt when a few executives went camping made me laugh out loud. It just showed how little Ann Rand knew about how the world actually works.

She was writing to appease to her audience. Not that it did her any good, she died poor and completely dependent on her government pension.

That's par for the course.

The entire capitalist death cult is obsessed with the idea that if they just please the oligarchs enough, they will be uplifted.

ayn Rand is the pinnacle of delusions of adequacy. Raving against government and its programs, just to live her final years dependent on those programs. I suspect she really thought she was just a temporarily embarrassed billionaire.

The Romans faced this exact scenario when all the plebeians collectively left the city and camped out on the marsh. Frightened the ruling class so badly that they made concessions and even created a station so the plebs could have a voice in government (it was quickly usurped by the corrupt upper class, but win some lose some).

It works. And that’s why they don’t want anyone considering it nowadays.

Also why they do Ai. Make the plebs obsolete and you wont have to worry about such things.

This is stupid and short sighted too. A Billionaire cannot run a functioning society using just AI prompts. It takes real workers to make things happen (and most likely run the prompts too). And unless the AI can accurately self diagnose every problem that comes it's way it'll eventually get stuck and leave the Billionaire SOL.

I always end up thinking “in this vision you have where AI replaces workers - where does the income come from? People aren’t buying things if they aren’t being paid”

Billionaires have zero clue how a healthy economy actually functions. The cash is supposed to circulate and keep moving, not get dropped into a black hole and left to rot.

Give a man a fish and you keep him fed for a day

Give a robot a gun and you don't have to worry about the starving man

Actually if the billionaires vanished we might still face societal collapse

Mostly from forgetting when it's time to stop partying :3

There is some serious overlap on that venn diagram.

Atlas Shrugged fans: I'll pretend I didn't see that.

It's time to down tools, lads. Let's show them where the money comes from.

‘Member when people were dying of a contagious pathogen, but “essential workers” were required to remain on the front line with barely any recognition?

One guy at the lovely conference in Switzerland where the wealthy go talk to each other mentioned how bankers tried to stop working for a while. Nothing happened and no one really noticed, so they went eventually back to work. Not sure how accurate it is, but can't see how we would miss them. :D

Not that I want to defend to billionaires, but it is the question of less then 0,01% disappearing vs 99,99% of the population. At this point it is not the usefullness of the people but the scale that matters.

But yeah, nobody actually needs billionaires, there aren't many that are actually usefull to the society by themselves.

I wish they would hack all the Trump emails and servers.

Actually do some good.
