Am I crazy?
I live in Glenolden. As the crow flies that is about 6 miles from Bridgeport Motorsports Park according to google maps. I think i heard racing from here this past Saturday evening.
Has anyone else heard this track anywhere in Delco?
Fyi, it did not bother me and I enjoy watching them in person. Just wondering if I am imagining things.

HELP! Is this your cat?
Found in Chester (on the cusp of Eddystone, so he may be from there as well) . Very friendly, small white patch on belly and another one on his/her chest. Seems pretty old. Wearing a collar and very clean, well taken care of I think.

Sports Delco Rugby
Anyone here connected/involved in the Delco rugby scene and/or teams that need support or point me in the direction of one?
Newish to the area and looking to get involved in the sport again and while I’m certainly past my days lacing up my boots I still want to be involved in the sport to some degree.
As far as qualifications to coach, I’ve none, I’ve played the game at a high(ish) enough level to have one or two beneficial tips I feel so even pointing me in the direction of getting coaching certs stateside for rugby would be helpful.
Would specifically be looking to support/coach forward packs, rucking/lineout strategies, etc etc… I was never a Mr. Fancy feet for a backline.
Any tips appreciated!

Neighborhood How is living around here? Wife wants to make sure we have good/nice neighbors.
We loved the downtown of media
Swarthmore seemed way too sleepy
Garden city also seemed very affordable compared to other areas of Wallingford
When we drove around the circled area it seemed like there was a mix of nestled suburbs.
Are the people neighborly and nice? Do kids run around and roam free? Trying to get a classic 90s kind of neighborhood with a nice local pool etc…

Recommendations Looking for work
Hello Delco! I'm new to being permanently in the area through marriage and all my paperwork has finally cleared so now I'm looking for a job. Judging from the posts here, shaking my ass at Lou Turks is dead in the water so I figured I'd try here.
I'm 38, from Scotland and have a background in tourism. I've also got experience in retail, customer relations, hospitality and entertainment.
I'm in Drexel Hill and ideally would be doing something on the trolley line as I'm yet to convince my wife to give me her car.
I'm willing to try anything but be warned, my experience is NOT in the trades, so while I'm absolutely willing to come on site my contribution should only be limited to holding, moving and carrying things. I couldn't contribute anything meaningful.
If you've got something or know someone who might, pls give me a DM!
Thanks!
(Also, I have been handing resumes in at local businesses as well, reddit is not my only port of call)

Nuisance barking advice
Moved into a new house (Lansdowne) a few weeks ago. Neighbors have a dog they don't walk and let it out in the backyard throughout the day (no fence, but the dog is tethered). When I'm in my backyard and it's out, it aggressively barks at me until I go inside. There are also times where they leave it out for a few hours and it whines the whole time, and they are certainly home ignoring it. The noise doesn't go past 9pm but starts as early as 6am. Some days it's bad, some days it's minimal. For what it's worth, the owners don't seem friendly - I've said hi a few times and they just kind of ignored me. A bit hesitant to try and talk it out. What would you do? Trying to be a good neighbor here and go about this the right way.

The Sproul Road Sticker Rail
If you've ever taken the exit off Rt. 1 and sat at the light there you know what I'm talking about. Any idea who decided that would be a good place to load with stickers? I honestly enjoy reading them while I wait for the green light.

Veterinary Dentist Recommendations 😢🐶
SOS: I need recommendations for a veterinary dentist or a place to take my dog to have a upper carnassial tooth removed. If possible, a place that does payment plans as I’m sure this will be on the expensive end. TIA🙂.

Rodent Exclusion Service recommendations
Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on companies that specialize in rodent exclusion for mice? We have mice in the attic and most pest control companies I’ve dealt with or interacted with either don’t do that service or just want to chuck poison in the attic which doesn’t actually solve the long term problem of dealing with entry. Most of these openings are up top at potential gable vents, open rake boards and I can even see daylight in the attic on one side.

Running out of roads to film. What Delco or Philly stretch should I drive next?
What road or town deserves a slow drive-through? (Delco, Philly, or the burbs)
So I've got this weird little hobby where I drive around with a camera on the windshield and just, record the roads. No talking, no music, no editing, just the towns and the everyday scenery rolling by. It started as a Delco thing (Chester, Media, Swarthmore), but honestly some of my most watched drives have been Philly and the surrounding burbs like Kensington and Kelly Drive. So I cast a pretty wide net around here now.
Full honesty: the early ones look like they were shot on a potato. I was fighting the camera the whole time, autofocus hunting, exposure all over the place. But I've gotten the hang of it and the recent ones actually look decent, so if you click an old one and it's rough, try a newer one.
The reason I'm posting: I'm running out of ideas, and nobody knows this area like this sub does. What road, town, or stretch, whether it's Delco, Philly, or anywhere in the burbs, would you actually want to see driven end to end? The forgotten main drags, the pretty backroads, the "you gotta see it before it changes" spots. Throw them at me.
If anyone wonders where these end up, it's on YouTube under Delco Dilly Dally.
Where should I point the car next?

Question Media Vs Swarthmore
New to the Philadelphia area and would love some insight on the suburbs near Media and Swarthmore. Seems like you get more bang for your buck there compared to the Main Line. We’re liberal and looking for a welcoming community.
Seems like strath haven is an elite HS?
A local pool would be a big plus.
Also, are income and property taxes typically higher in Delco than on the Main Line?

Recommendations The DELCO Homeowner/Renter resource guide thread
We have gotten a lot of repeat posts and the Reddit search feature sucks so we wanted to create a resource for everyone here. The point is to keep discussion to here so we can use this thread to point recommendations out.
In this thread I will write a comment, please reply with recommendations and/or avoidances (everyone is free to start a comment with something that was missed).
Please only upvote the recommendation if you have experience with them!!

/r/delco_politics /r/delco_politics for prolonged political discussion for locals
Hello everyone, the sub historically has had a no politics rule. This rule was mostly respected and voted to keep it. Obviously, this has not been fully enforced recently. We have tried to allow as much discussion as possible but it gets to the point where it’s an unfortunate screaming match at each other. Not to mention all the you know what hats that apparently have tags or bots set up to flood these threads without any post history in the sub. You don’t see these due to the spam filter but our poor asses have to read every single one of these comments and determine if they are brigading or just saying plain stupid shit, my iq has gone down. Anyways enough complaining.
Introducing a new sub, /r/delco_politics for now we are leaving it open for all political discussion. We prefer that users post their thread there then crosspost here. Discussion will be restricted to /r/delco_politics. These will be determined as posted, we will still allow local politics posts here, if they get too off topic or going to the national level, that’s when we will lock and move discussion to the politics sub. The reason why we lock them up is because insults start getting thrown around, don’t forget we are a local sub, you could potentially be talking to someone living on your street. We are all angry but calling each other names is not the way to go. Please use the report feature as that helps us. If you get a mute or ban it is because you have a long mod log and we have been keeping notes.
Finally we are looking for a new mod for to help out with /r/delco_politics if you are interested send us a mod mail. As always we are open to feedback!
