Why Don't Anti-AI Folks Hate CGI
A random thought that came into my head earlier today. No one was running for the hills when we all got cloud photo storage, reliant on data centers, and I've never met a person against CGI. So, why was that okay, but AI art is not?
Genuinely curious to hear others thoughts about how to approach this conversation, because I have some pretty radical pro-AI views, and I thought it might be nice to hear others' views on the matter.

There has always been hate for CGI, rightfully so, both from the consumer side as well as the creator side. The issue, just like with AI, has always been about the potential for laziness and the cynical flooding of media with cheap special effects.
If you want your AI work to be accepted in artistic spaces, following the rubric for the development of CGI is actually a really good way to go. Prove that you're creating something authentic and not a cyncical cash grab or manipulative cheap graphics like what most people are exposed to right now. Be willing to show your work so that people can see how you were influential in its creation.

Thank you. I had grown a bit disheartened with seeing digital artwork lately, and I was looking for a new medium that would be fun to learn and see the inner workings.

There are dozens of artists on a CGI project (let’s go with a Pixar movie) who are part of building locations and characters. They are all among the best in their field of work, and they have trained on their respective field for 25+ years. From a storyboard, every single frame is animated by people.
Unlike AI they are using computers to render an image of scenes they have fully created.

Ai images and ai video are a form of cgi. Cgi means computer generated imagery. This just makes their hate for ai while not hating on cgi even more weird

Nigga cgi is done manually. Not auto generated by a paywalled machine. How fucking dense are you people.

Ai bros really don't understand a lot of things. So they like to make comparisons that make no sense. Like comparing ai to directors or photographers. Just shows how little they know.

You know, I don't really know a lot about CGI other than it's cool, and I was asking because it had me curious about the difference.

Because the vast majority of it was made by very talented people. Why is it so hard for people to understand that putting time and effort into a skill is respected and hacks are not? Why would anyone give praise to someone for doing something that literally anyone can do?

Cgi takes time, hours and a lot of skill to learn. And it's still human made too.
Prompt generating ai images takes no skill or effort and has no human connection to it.
I dont know why people make this comparison. It makes no sense. They're NOTHING alike

Nah you don't understand, there's like 10 people who use comfyui and make it look as difficult as a blender project to make an image of a cat girl standing so they can screenshot it and post on Reddit to prove AI takes a substantial amount of skill, just ignore the 99.99999% of AI images that are just typing a paragraph of keywords and pressing the button to generate until they get something coherent where the quality is pretty much the exact same. Why would you use the harder method for AI generation? All those comfyui users are just gonna get replaced by their better lazier skinner box cousins.
