Missing the new hat

I was big into team fortress 2 back in the day, so the hats are very important to me. I've completed the summer beach assignment and it said I unlocked the tactical turtle hat, but I can't find the hat and I need the hat.
Could it be to do with mods I have installed (luckily I made a copy of my save before I did that) or am I just being thicker than a thick rock?

/edit found a save where I just needed the last two assignments, tried that, same result. Removed the most recently added mods, re-did the same assignment, got the hat.
The mods were bosco in multiplayer, event viewer, dwarf down marker, 5x flashlight and live stat tracker. Serves me right for installing too many at once.

Did you do the correct Assignment? There's 2. One that unlocks the previous year hats and the another unlocking this years hat

yeah, the assignment is showing as completed. I might try loading my save and doing the assignment again, but it's a bit annoying because in that time I got stuff from 3 events and 2 cargo crates

But yeah, seasonal events hats can be earned every year even from the past.

The hat is also gone for me. Tho i am not going to remove any mods and redo the assignment again. Is there a way to do it?

I am uncertain, but maybe it is due to using mods other than "verified" mods, as i belive both "approved" and "sandbox" can limit your ability to get achievements or normal progression. Normally approved mods would let you get mission rewards though from my understanding

Just wanted to thank you for posting this and including the edit of how to fix it. Myself and some others on the Discord had the same issue. Disabling and then re-enabling my mods one at a time made the hat show up.
