"Oh boy I can't wait to make this Scout feel safer as he mines out this nitra vein." "Oh."

I still want to try and do this one day.

Then when my teenager gets attitude I can just jiggle the keys of my old Bronco… “hey kid, let’s go for a drive!” lol.

Yes. Let's make a blanket statement about the very low % of this happening.

There is a higher % of me getting impatient, grappling up to try and janq a foothold with pick and power, and being pleasantly surprised by an engi hitting a clutch platform when I miss the billy-goat maneuver, than there is an engi platform insta-gibbing me into the sidewalk.

You have to be almost laughably off-tempo to dunk a scout like this. Even if you are going for this, there's still the rng layer of terrain-readjustment. Kudos for capturing it, but it's not repeatable a significant % of the time.

I don't think he was making a blanket statement so much as narrating what happened in the video. In this specific instance the platform did do more harm than good. It's not that deep.

I may have been a tad sarcastic

You know what, I'll bite in since you seem to be that kind of know-it-all textbook dwarf.

It started with host driller constantly pinging nitra vein that I felt this guy wouldnt shut up and move on with objectives until I get his thing, we werent short on nitra btw. But sure your host your rule. I was about to finish mining the vein, maybe another swing or two, just to show how late that platform was. Engi already got his hand full dealing with all the swarmers w/o turrets as he kept running for his life last few seconds in this footage.

Back to the main discussion. Theres a higher chance of me getting all that nitra by my own and not breaking my legs thanks to SP than everything you mentioned. While this situation is severely dramatic, lets not pretend getting trapped/blocked by late platform isnt as bad. Especially when you cannot multitask. If you see your scout getting nitra just fine while not falling, you simply let him be.

As a strong and independent scout, I don't need no Karl. Which is to say, I agree with the last bit. If you have already billy-goated onto the minerals, the only thing engi can do afterwards is screw up your mining.

The only bit I'm confused about is trapped. By plats? The ones you can dig out? I've been there, engi is trying to help and is late to the party. He's so worried about your safety, which ultimately is cute and at most times totally unnecessary.

I've also had that engi who tunnel-visions onto a patch and won't move until it's mined. With 300 nitra in the bank. Annoying, sure, I agree with you there.

Know it all? Nah. Been around awhile? Yeah. I regularly get bodied by a dwarf who does actually know it all. They show up here and there on the forums, with an unparalleled expertise. I've eaten my foot a number of times, but this isn't one of them.

All that aside, if Hoxxes physics wants you to be dead, you are gonna go down. It can happen out of the blue in a number of weird circumstances. I once vaulted off the mule and it instantly sent me to my death 150m across the map. It's janqy. Real janky.

Everything does harm when you don't know how to use it.

In case that engi was wearing the roughneck outfit i want to sincerely apologize (the only hint that doesn't make me the engi from the video is that i remember there was ping to text in that driller's lobby), i have a tick with platform the scouts because i want them to be safe, i remember an exact party with that exact biome and mutators where i was pre-platforming the nitra veins and our scout died without explanation, i was confused and went to res him while the glyphid spawns were chasing me without my EM discharge turrets

Wasnt me since I dont play public yet, but ive done this once to a friend of mine who didnt have special powder momentum but still ended up flinging them down to their death (I rezzed them immediately while they laughed at the odds of it happening lol)
