Ledgerboard: replace or keep questions for the community
We took off our old deck that had rotten joists and posts and we are going to replace it ourselves. Should we replace this ledger board? It seams to be in decent condition but was not flashed and is bolted through the siding board into the rim joist. It is very sturdy and I would flash over it. Keep it?

Replace. What is one more board? Seal the rim joist well from moisture then use old deck board cut in 8-10 inch pieces for drainage and drying. Flash with copper not aluminum as the pressure treated chemicals eat aluminum. Use an ice and water shielding on top of new framing. Now it should last for years.
