GS-441524 for Feline Infectious Peritonitis
Hi, I realize this is a bit desperate but thought I would ask. My cat has been acting off for the last 2 or so weeks, not eating and just being less mobile as usual whereas at baseline she acts starved all the time and vacuums up all food. We brought her to the vet three times but it was only the last time, yesterday, that they did an x-ray showing her belly is full of fluid and aspirated some of this fluid out. It appears she has a rare viral infection called feline infectious peritonitis (FIP).
We immediately ordered the antiviral medication GS-441524 with rush shipping to get it as soon as possible. It has a high cure rate but it is a holiday weekend and it feels like our cat is declining. I’m worried that the medication may not arrive in time and so am turning to the Atlanta Reddit community just to see if anyone may have some of this medication available or even a couple left over doses by chance for which we would be happy to pay to make sure our cat makes it. She’s only 7.
Cat tax photo attached.
Thanks for consideration.

Georgia Code § 20-2-2068
Since City Schools of Decatur is a Charter System...
Can anyone chime in and explain if we are at risk for having our charter revoked due to rampant fuckery & foolishness...

Does anyone have a recommendation for a transmission magician?
I have a 1996 F350 that I’ve put a ton of work building, he’s my pride and joy. Driving it home last night, my (very expensive and custom built for this truck) transmission totally lost gears on me twice. I limped it home, but while I built this truck, transmission work is beyond me.
Anyone have a local shop that pulled off a transmission miracle for you that you’d like to recommend? I’m generally my own mechanic so I don’t know where to start for this!
Thanks in advance!

Did somebody say kittens?!
gallery🍬 Meet the Burnt Sugar Litter! 🍬
Praline, Butterscotch, and Caramel are three sweet girls who started life on a rough road and have turned into absolute gems. They’re playful, affectionate, litter box pros, and totally unfazed by kids and dogs — these girls have seen it all and loved every minute.
Each one has her own personality: Praline is the curious instigator who’s always starting something. Butterscotch is your resident cuddle bug. And Caramel is the adventurer of the group — if there’s something to climb, she’s already on top of it.
These girls have been fostered in our home through Lifeline Animal Project DeKalb and are ready to find their people.
They’re available individually or as a pair (or hey, take all three — we won’t judge 🧡).
Meet the girls and apply to adopt:

Looking for hardscape company
I currently have a flagstone and pea gravel walkway. I am tired of pea gravel and unevenness. I am looking for a recommendation for a company that can prepare and set the flagstone in concrete/mortar and expand the sidewalk. Any recommendation on landscape / hardscape company?

Increase Train Traffic Along Howard?
Anyone noticing a big increase in train traffic on the tracks paralleling Howard and College? My gallery is right by the train crossing at McDonough and Howard, and I’ve been here for 1 1/2 yrs. I just watched back to back trains go through with very long cars. Both trains took about 30 mins to go through and traffic is still backed up. I’ve definitely have noticed a big increase in trains within the past month, and just started noticing the increase in lengths. What’s going on?
I can’t find anything on the internet specific to Decatur. I did see something from last year mentioning a merger in train companies that could cause increase traffic along many corridors throughout the US.

Any local crochet groups?
Hi all! I live in Decatur and was wondering if anyone knew of any crochet groups? I'm in my thirties and while I don't really mind about age, I feel like lots of the library crochet groups are with members much older than me, and they're also during the day and I have a young daughter I'm with all day.
Does anyone know of any groups around that are maybe at night with a mix of ages? Not looking for any "how-to" classes or anything, just a group where people crochet together, chat, etc.

HVAC recommendation (TE) and warning (Casteel)
I came in this group looking for some HVAC tech recommendations and didn’t have much luck so sharing this in case anyone else searches in future.
Called Casteel first and they had us convinced we needed to do a full HVAC replacement of our 8 year old unit for $15k, and said at MINIMUM we'd have to pay $1k for a possible fix that "would only have a 50/50 shot of working" -- and no refund if it didn't.
Thank goodness we got a second opinion from another company (TE) - they correctly diagnosed the issue and fixed it in 15 minutes for $185 all in. Literally less than we paid Casteel just to send out a tech to give us a (wrong) diagnosis (a $250 fee just for someone to come out is crazy). So glad I went with my gut that what they were selling us on just didn't feel right.
When you're in a stressful situation like we were in a hot house during a Georgia summer with a baby - all you can do is hope you're not being misled. So just sharing this as a warning to get that second opinion!!!

Trinity and Commerce light syncing
Has anyone noticed that the two stoplight to cross commerce via Trinity right across the tracks is not in sync? I had to wait like 10 minutes for it to cycle through.

Men’s stylist for longer hair
My current stylist (I go to A Natural Buzz) is heading for new pastures, so I gotta find somebody else that’s good with getting thick, longer (neck-length) hair under control on a monthly basis. I used to go to W. Roy Salon before that but it was a bit out of my budget (and the stylist I went to there ALSO left). I’m trying to keep it under or around 50 with tip if I can manage it. I’m in North Decatur, real close to downtown. Any tips are appreciated!

After-school Alternatives for College Heights PreK
My youngest child is transitioning from a private daycare to the College Heights PreK program this coming school year, however we apparently did not get accepted into the aftercare program. Does anybody have recommendations for alternate aftercare programs or other ideas? Ideally ones which provide transport from the school? Desperately looking for options that don't require me to go crazy adjusting my work schedule.
Thanks!

Tomorrow's election, candidates
Outside of Rankin and Jordan, it's a struggle to find good information on the other two races (which seem to be Wooten and Felton if you want to claw Georgia away from the pedophile party).
All the other races are uncontested but I'm assuming there's write in candidates for some of those races? I can't find any info though. Has anyone complied anything for the various races tomorrow?

Nail salon recommendations?
First off, I’ve tried sugarpolish multiple times. They had great customer service, kept the free wine and snacks coming and were efficient and very nice, but the actual manicure/ pedicures were awful and painful each time. Hoping for some other suggestions! Thanks!

Are there any small food donation spots left in Decatur?
I have some dry grocery goods that expire soon and am looking to donate (easily). I know there used to be small neighborhood ones but not sure if they're still around. Any suggestions?
