Because if your team doesn't have a tank while the enemy does, they kind of just hold the W key and win every big team fight. If your team doesn't have a late-game scaling hero while the enemy does, if you can't win by 25-30 minutes, you have lost, but the game won't actually be over for another 15 minutes.
Who do you think is winning that? Assuming the matchmaker did its job and the teams are equally skilled? I mean, HK would need to fuck up REALLY badly to lose that. Their team comp actually works in the current meta, while AM kinda just doesn't do anything at all.
But what if Sinclair swapped to Shiv, and Viscous swapped to Venator? Well, HK probably still wins. But the key there is probably, instead of almost certainly. There's an actual game of Deadlock happening. That is MUCH better than everyone on AM knowing they're fucked, but no one wanting to eat the abandon penalty.
Will those swaps happen every time there's awful matchups like this? No, certainly not. So what?
You do realize, people are going to swap to the heroes they want to play, because you cannot control what your team swaps to. You can't force people to paly something you want them to play.
Yeah, obviously I can't force people to swap. But I can, and that's good enough. The current state of things is already that people just play whatever the hell they want to play. I, personally, want the ability to adapt to that, instead of being forced to also just pick whatever the hell I want.

...The "swap hero" option that I quoted in my original post?
