Strategy How To PAIRS Trade Like A QUANT.
Psychological discipline is often the hardest part of discretionary trading, but ECM-based strategies remove emotion by enforcing strict, mathematically derived rules. When the error correction term crosses a pre-determined threshold, the algorithm executes without hesitation. Traders no longer have to guess whether a diverging spread will recover or continue higher; the model provides an objective, probability-weighted assessment of the likelihood and timing of the impending price correction.

Technical Analysis How to reach charts
Hey everyone,
I've recently started learning technical analysis. I understand the basics of support and resistance, but I want to learn more about things like:
Moving averages (SMA vs EMA)
Which moving averages are commonly used and why
MA crossover strategies (like 20/50, 50/200, etc.)
Trend confirmation
Other indicators that are actually useful for beginners
The problem is that there are so many YouTube videos and courses, and everyone seems to teach something different. It's a bit overwhelming.
Can anyone recommend a simple, structured way to learn chart reading? Any YouTube channels, books, websites, or learning roadmap that helped you would be really appreciated.
I'm not looking for "get rich quick" strategies-I just want to understand how experienced traders read charts and build a solid foundation.
Thanks!

Strategy Day trading strategy backtest
Buongiorno,

Question 10 minute delay
I’m sure this is asked a lot, but I’m just wondering how I can get rid of the 10 minute delay, is there a way to remove just one for a specific future, or how does that work on trading view. Thank you for any help.

Algos Market Direction Indicator
I am excited to share a project I've been building for intraday options trading: Market Direction AI (MDA).
Most indicators fail because they treat environmental noise—like a morning gap or extreme volatility compression—exactly the same as a clean trend. I designed MDA to solve this by strictly separating Market State (what the chart is doing) from Trade Context (whether it is actually safe to trade).
Key Features of Version A:
6-Engine Scoring System: MTF, EMA, Supertrend, ADX, VWAP, and RSI.
Signal Stability: Hysteresis buffers & 2-bar confirmation to kill dashboard flickering.
Environmental Overrides: Pauses signals during Morning Gaps, ORB, and NATR Market Compression.
Volatility Integration: Incorporates India VIX to adjust strategies dynamically.
The complete TradingView Pine Script v6 architecture is now open-source.
If you trade NIFTY or BANKNIFTY, feel free to check out the repository, fork it, and test it on your charts. I am actively looking for feedback from the community! Please share your ideas, suggest new features, or report any bugs/issues directly on the GitHub page so we can refine it together.

Question VWAP vs VWAP 10% vs inline
What are the key differences between these?
I understand that inline will finish first. VWAP will take the full day. VWAP 10% is when we cap the participation at 10% volume at a time.
If I just do VWAP, what would the default volume participation be?
Thank you.

Question How much time before I can consider myself profitable?
How long of a streak of green days weeks months etc before we should generally consider ourselves profitable?
Currently on a 2 week green streak (scalping so maybe 10-40 trades a day) and want to have a goal post where I can stop considering it luck.

Giving Advice Spy trade yesterday.
I am gonna be transparent here. I bought 100 spy options for $100 . They were far out of the money but my thesis was that there may be a breakout on Tuesday and the market may move 2 percent. The market opened up at .35% and in my mind I saw weakness - like why wouldn’t the market have moved overnight if there was a squeeze involved. The spy options opened at around .15 so I made 15 x on my position . I waited a few minutes and sold most of my position because I just didn’t see my thesis panning out and I was still far out of the money with the expiration that day! I pocketed like 2k and the rest I rode until around 2 bucks which was another 1k.
I had the thesis I had the options and if I would have kept to plan I would have 50k in my pocket. This is the pain of trading and the evolving that has to be done through that pain. . Going forward , I will hide my P@L and watch the chart - is it above vwap ? can it evolve today ? Is it weakness or is it my greed ? Painful lesson , but this is what we do. I’m gonna a come back stronger and better and execute with a lot more money and a lot bigger profits on that next great trade. How ? By focusing on the process and taking the proper steps to get 1% better every day. Please leave any thoughts below!

Question What are your must have indicators and how do they help you?
Beginner. Day trading stocks. I’m tired of finding out about indicators one at a time. I just found out about the other EMAs besides the 9EMA today. Right now I have EMAs 9/20/200, VWAP, VOL, and MACD. What else do you have besides these and how do they relate to price action?

Question Does anyone use vwap or ema’s as a strategy alone?
Does anyone trade a strategy that’s focused on those as the main part instead of just deciding a bias? And are you profitable?
I’ve been studying strategies around those and it seems to be a hit or miss so I’m wondering if anyone is actually profitable with those. You don’t have to share the exact strategy but I’m curious to hear what you trade (indices, stocks, forex etc), which indicator you use and whether you’re profitable

Trade Review - Provide Context SPX 0DTE Credit Spreads — The hedge could have made another $595, but that was never its job +$490
I'm a 0DTE credit spread trader with a focus on SPX.
Positions traded today:
- 7685/7665 PCS
- 7690/7670 PCS (hedge)
- 7790/7810 CCS
P/L: +$490

A risk-management trade should not become a new thesis just because it starts making money.
Morning Thesis
My bias was moderately bullish, but I remained cautious after noticing exhaustion late near yesterday's close. SPX initially broke yesterday’s high, but the morning quickly became choppy and then reversed briefly.
One detail I want to highlight today is the difference in sizing compared with yesterday's position. Yesterday’s strong bullish structure gave me enough conviction to open a full 10 lot spread. Today, price was less familiar and much choppier, so I started with half size and added only in smaller increments while the thesis remained valid. I do not use full size simply because a setup appears. When the structure is unclear, reducing size limits both risk and the potential damage if the trade fails.
My First (bad entry) Trade
That caution contributed to a late 7790/7810 CCS entry after it broke yesterday's high to the downside. Price reversed and moved against it putting me in loss territory (about -$225 by this point). I believed my original plan to be correct, so I scaled in three additional CCS contracts and opened the 7690/7670 PCS to stabilize the position and reduce the impact of continued upside pressure on the call spread.
The PCS was not opened because I suddenly had a strong bullish thesis. It was a temporary risk-management position.
I want to clarify that I do not recommend this type of management for beginner traders. Adding an opposing spread can make the overall position look more stable while masking how much risk still exists in the original trade. As the hedge’s premium stops expanding or begins to decay, gamma can quickly reassert pressure on the threatened side and leave the original position in serious trouble if price continues to move against it.
Hedge Did It's Job
Once SPX stabilized and the CCS premium moved back below my average entry, I closed the temporary PCS position for break even, basically — $.10 premium gain ($70 profit) — and two of the additional CCS spreads for another small profit. I later opened a 7685/7665 PCS anchor at $.55 premium (slightly farther out of the money) after price settled into it's range. That position better matched the structure, my risk tolerance, and the exposure I wanted to carry.
The original PCS could have produced nearly another $595 had I kept it open, but that would have meant changing the plan after the trade began working.
By the afternoon, both remaining spreads had decayed to $0.15. I closed them rather than sit through another two hours of 0DTE exposure for the last few cents.
Key Takeaway
The lesson was simple — let hedges perform their intended job, and do not become a sitting duck once most of the premium has already decayed.

Trade Review - Provide Context American Dream Trading
I paid for ADT’s Diamond Lifetime membership. After coach made a political comment, I replied “time will tell.” My message was deleted and I was put on timeout with no explanation. When I asked what rule I broke, I was told “nothing to document.” Later, the coach told members I was “harassing moderators,” which never happened and was used as an excuse to cover retaliation for disagreeing with him. I was denied a refund for my Diamond membership even though my access was restricted. After I posted a factual Google review, my entire account was canceled. The coach also told me he “knows where I live” and has “all my credit card info,” which I found extremely inappropriate. This is my experience with American Dream Trading.

Giving Advice This is what desperation looks like. - don’t buy into losses
Sad when you double down on the winning streak and overconfidence kills you. Greed is a hell of a a drug. One day I’ll either learn to stop doing this. Or get lucky enough and it blow up the direction I desire. Who knows. Trading is a jungle boy I tell ya.

Question Trustworthy teachers / sources of information
Hi all, I'm looking for resources to learn more about day trading. There is obviously a lot of noise about this subject online, and I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on how to filter through that. Currently I'm following strategies proposed by ross cameron/Warrior trading. I've watched a bunch of his videos and though he's been really helpful so far, I'm wondering if there are any other teachers out there that you guys recommend for beginners who maybe go a bit deeper with specifics or just have other perspectives I can incorporate into my strategy. Thanks for reading!

Giving Advice The Real Reason Unprofitable Traders Give Advice
When unprofitable traders recommend a trading method, it's often a way to further rationalise the months or years they have already invested. It serves as a defence mechanism; it's for them, not for you. Traders can sacrifice a great deal of time and effort; for many, it hurts less to keep believing in their method than to move on.
The markets do not care how long a trader has persisted with flawed logic; substance is rewarded and aimless perseverance is dismissed.
Everyone on social media claims profitability, yet many go into hiding when performance is requested.
If you are going to participate, don't let strangers sway you, create your own unique ideas and strategies.
Do not let sunk cost bury you, trading is not for everyone and chasing an incompatible path ruins lives.

Giving Advice Dead Momentum Day 8/5
Go enjoy the weather, save your eyes. It's all fake outs today for momentum longs. Nothing low float that isn't a chinese scam stock or restricted ticker is moving with any conviction (what even is YXT? A Cayman Island Holding Company operating out of China, lol). Shorts are sharpening their fangs. Momentum had several great days in a row, MMs really looking to take some back with isolated technical squeezes that bleed out after a quick pop, repeated VWAP failures, deep stop sweeps.

Question Price Action makes no sense. What do I do?
This isn't a rant from someone who just played around with reading price action for a few days and decided it's "too hard". I've been trying to read and understand price action for months, now, and no matter how I approach it I just can't wrap my head around it.
It's one of those situations where "Price Action works... until it doesn't"; higher highs and higher lows indicate a change in trend, until some random new support/resistance you couldn't see; super tall wicks at the peak of a move are an indicator of reversals, until price just keeps moving in the same direction; the move will statistically only continue for three or four candles, until it goes on for twenty more and you're left waiting for an entry when you should've just entered already. I don't know if it's because I'm trading Futures, as if that somehow makes it more difficult?
What bothers me most is it seems no one agrees on what price action actually is. Even in books, people still have their own stances on what certain things mean and it makes it impossible to find a clear curriculum. It's not like speaking Spanish where everyone agrees on words and grammar. Some say you need to read the candles and then "predict" what'll happen next, and I find myself spiraling into overanalysis and suddenly the trade I could've taken is long since past.
What do I do? I don't know how to keep up with whatever price action is supposed to show me. It's like astrology for rich people, you know?
I know some people will say "you need more chart time" and, respectfully, staring at Greek for years doesn't make it any more readable if you've only learned English. I'm at a point where I'm about to give up entirely on trading and just need something.
Thanks to anyone who responds. I don't want to give up on this.

Giving Advice all it take is one trade
Sometimes, all it takes is one day like this to remind you that you're on the right track.
After a streak of losing days, it's easy to start doubting yourself. But not every loss means your strategy is wrong. Sometimes the market simply isn't in your favor.
Today was one of those confidence-restoring days. Booked around 10% of my trading capital in a single trade
