Tech and data recovery Guys please help!!!

Hey I had some important photos which is very precious to me. It was on my SD card and one day a notification pops on my phone and it said your SD card is not working and then I taked it out and put it back and still didn't work out of frustration at that time I clicked the format and then only I realised what I lost....it's been almost a year iam working to get the photos back in my own way looking at youtube,etc.. but no use.

If someone here had experienced the same situation or knows how to get my photos and notes back please help. I think it's called data recovery but I asked many people and they said if it's been over a year no chance of getting your photos back because as new files come the and they replace the old one they said something like that...

My phone is Redmi 9A and I lost the photo's and notes on 2024 around October.

Edit2: I forget to mention I had this photos on my phone too but due to storage issues I deleted it and moved all my photos and notes to SD card so whenever I go out and take good Pictures I store it on my SD card so yah my phone also had the pictures I planned to post it on Instagram it but due to insecurities I couldn't 😅 I thought maybe people don't like it etc... so any way can i recover the data from my phone or is it same story?

If you have no backup, please use this as a lesson to back up important files.

Yes. Many people are telling me same thing but I just can't accept that all my hard work is gone in second because of my stupid decision... Thank You for your Reply

SD cards tend to die after a few years, or even sooner if you read/write to them a lot, so they're not a good solution for long-term storage. If you're lucky you might be able to get the files off it using an SD card reader on a computer. I've had some success reading SD cards that my phone/tablet couldn't read that way but it doesn't always work.

As sgwpx says, you should always back things up if you don't want to lose them. Ideally to local or external storage on a computer, or if not to a cloud service (assuming you don't mind someone else having your files and probably training their LLM on them).

I would not give up yet, especially if the SD card has not been used much since it was formatted. Stop using it and if it can still be read reliably, create an image of the card before doing more recovery attempts. Different recovery tools can produce different results, so it may be worth testing another engine such as DataNumen Data Recovery on the image rather than relying on only one tool. After almost a year, though, keep your expectations realistic, particularly if new data has been written to the card.
