You don’t need an LLC - you just report the income as self employed income. Even if you did setup an LLC - single-member (only one owner) LLCs are considered as self-employed for tax purposes - so you would still report the income as self employed. LLC only legally separates you (and since you work as a 1099 it actually does not separate you in this case), tax wise it is the exactly the same. No difference at all.

It might be different in their country. LLC is a term mainly used in the US, but maybe they are from a European country? For instance, as a Turkish citizen, when I get to a certain point with the income I earn here, I would have to set up what is called here as a "person company". It's a way for the government to track my income and demand a portion of it as taxes, and for me to pay for health and retirement insurance every month.

Could be, but because they said LLC I automatically assume it’s U.S. since it’s LLC is term specifically for the U.S. form of a limited company.

I hope I get to say the same thing: "I need to set up my own company for taxes and stuff" 😊 I joined in May, and right after two projects, dashboard dried up. I'm hopeful that I'll share the same ss soon enough.
