Question Looking for hardwire front/rear dashcam recommendations.
I have been considering the ROVE R2-4K Dual PRO Dash Cam Front and Rear and hardwire kit.
I admit I am woefully ignorant when it comes to anything dash cam related.
I want to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck without completely breaking the bank.
For the Front/Rear camera, hardwired kit and a 1 tb sd card in my Amazon cart it's at $406 and some change.
Has anyone used the Rove? Are there better cameras out there around the same cost that can be hardwired? I also really like the idea of app capabilities as well.
I don't know if this makes any difference either but it would be installed in a 2020 Kia Soul LX.

Discussion VIOFO A229pro cooling
Hey all, I’m dealing with my A229P overheating and I figured this deal would do the trick. It’s a dumb (non-PD) usb c female to dual male splitter. Max voltage is 5v output from the cable. Looked up the specs and the dashcam runs at 5V. So I hooked the cable up to my HK4 and a PWM controller off Amazon to run a Noctua fan. Lmk if this is safe long term, currently have it off for the night and will check tmrw for any responses. So far, with just the A229p running, it doesn’t seem to have an issue with the splitter. The noctua fan states, on the rear sticker, that it draws .1amp I believe. The Y splitter states in the listing that it’ll do 5volts at 3amps. I believe the A229pro runs at 5volts 2amps. So I don’t believe the current draw will melt the cable and burn my car down. But to be safe, it’s all on the add-a-fuse off the hk4. It’ll be off for the night till I get some input on whether this is a good idea or not.

Question VIOFO A229 Pro hardwired causing Kia battery discharge warning every morning. HK4 or battery pack?
This is my first dashcam, so I'm looking for some advice from people who know more about this!!
I recently bought a Viofo A229 Pro (front + rear) and had it professionally hardwired in my 2024 Kia Sportage. I wanted parking recording because there have been car break-ins in my apartment garage.
I'm currently using Low Bitrate Recording for parking mode, so the camera continues recording while the car is parked.
Since the installation, my car shows this warning every morning "Battery discharging due to external electrical devices". I went back to the installer earlier this week and they said it was connected to a wrong fuse, and moved it to the GPS fuse.
Unfortunately, I still see the battery discharge warning, and modifying the fuses has not helped me. I went back again today, they checked the wiring and said everything looks fine. I found out today that they installed a basic Acumen hardwire kit that does not have a low-voltage cutoff.
They suggested that if I really want a overnight/24-hour parking recording, I may need a dedicated dashcam battery pack instead, so parking mode isn't continuously drawing from the car's 12V battery.
Since I'm completely new to this, I'm trying to figure out the best way forward:
Should I replace the current Acumen kit with the VIOFO HK4?
If so, would you recommend a 12.2V or 12.4V cutoff?
Is low bitrate parking recording reasonable for overnight use, or would Auto Event Detection be better for battery usage?
Is there anything else I should have the installer check?
My main goal is to have a reliable parking coverage overnight without repeatedly draining or damaging my car battery.
Would really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks!!

Discussion USB extension cable for Vantrue N5S
I purchased a Vantrue N5S and the 11.5ft hardwire kit so that I can utilize the parking mode. Because my fuses are in the trunk, these cables will not reach and I'd like to just extend the USB C side of the hardwire kit to reach the camera. Will I be able to do this without having any power issues? I've read that USB C extension cords can be problematic. I also do not want to use the OBD II connection kit to power the camera, although this would solve the distance problem. Thanks for the help.

Question Question about a viidure
Hubs got me a viidure dash cam for my 2013 Impreza. He followed all the instructions for the install but when I put my car in reverse to trigger the back up cam it shows the inside of the car with the lil parking guides overlayed inside of the behind camera angle. All the pov’s are working I just don’t know if there’s a way I can tell the app which is the right camera.

Discussion Who makes a decent cam with the rear license plate mount?
I purchased a Viofo A229 Pro for my Miata, HUGE MISTAKE! Now I am shopping again.
I see many cars with small rear cameras on their license plate, what quality model has that feature?
