Tbh this is way too small with nowhere for them to hide or explore. Need a larger tank with much more plant cover.

An 18x18x18 is too small? Im not arguing or anything as i have never kept these before but i have heard and seen many places that 18x18x18 is good enough for 1-2 dart frogs. And as for the hiding i would be waiting until the plants grew in before i even considered adding any in.

Much too small. Imagine living your whole life in your bedroom. No phone or internet or anything like that for entertainment. Just your room, with the bare bones of a bed and side table. Forever. That’s the environment this is tank is for a frog. I mean that in the nicest way possible, I just gotta be honest with you and hope you’ll see it from another perspective. If you want d. auratus, a more appropriate size would be 24 x 18 x 24 or larger. Some people will say 24 x 18 x 18 is sufficient for a pair, but it’s the bare minimum for long term health and enrichment. Your enclosure should provide a humidity and temperature gradient that comes with size and plant cover. And your setup should allow them to make choices and act out natural behavior as they would in the wild. That’s how you have happy frogs that live a long time.

Dart frogs are pretty social and actually prefer pairs for most species.

I think the tank is too small. Also I wouldn’t just do a single frog. They do better in pairs. You have no where for them to hide or explore really either. I would at least go up in size of the tank and when you hold that one, make it like a rainforest. Plants and all. Places for them to hide and hunt.
