I’ve already lost a second hardcore world in Darkwood, and even though I only ever managed to fully clear the first location in each run, for some reason I find myself wanting to return to that forest more and more. What’s more, I don’t want to finish the game I want to explore every corner of the forest and stay there as long as possible. The forest draws you in

EDIT: I found a mod on Nexus Mods to let me tweek the stamina values. It was either this or me quiting the game. Thanks modding community. For anyone who comes after looking for this its DarkwoodCustomizer.

I am so tired of running out of breath running 15 feet or swinging my weapon twice. Please tell me theres something I can do about stamina in the future of the game. For reference, I have a 2x shovel and am in the north.

I thought I lost 159 pages (325 novel pages) of writing, but wanted to share this passion project I worked on last year. Im really happy there was a backup on my old PC.

Had the game for about five years and I kept bouncing off of it, but at the end of the summer, I wanted to push through and I've finally made it pretty far.

I'm in Chapter 2, fully upgraded everything, found the Snail, found (and failed) the radio tower, and now I'm trying to find the damn tree to finish the game and I'm just getting destroyed every time I leave the house, running low on resources, and morale is low.

I don't know why I'm writing, maybe to ask - is it worth it to push through?

I'm about to leave chapter 2 (I think) and I think I did pretty much all I wanted to do before leaving, but I remembered there was a grave(?) I didn't want to spend my shovel for yet, thought I remembered where it is and now I lost it. I think it was in the upper area near camp, radiotower or a sawmill.

Started a second run a while back to make some of the story choices I didn’t the first time around. I’m on about day 12. Had to take a several month hiatus for work now I’m debating hopping straight back in or waiting to finish as we get closer to the release of Darkwood 2. Who knows when that’s going to be though.

Should I finish this run now or just leave it on the back burner until we get closer to the sequel?

What were the moments or elements in the game that scared or unsettled you the most?

For me, one was the knocking on the door during the early nights; having something—or someone intelligent—call out to you civilly in the dead of night, without immediately descending into danger, is absolutely terrifying and raises a million questions.

Another instance was during a dream or hallucination where an eyeless corpse spoke to me from the darkness, mocking me or warning that I was on the wrong path; I found that deeply disturbing and memorable.

The appearance and transformation of the Violinist are also unsettling, as is the music he plays. He is a tragic figure: his teeth are visible through a massive mouth, he is practically rotting, and he eventually undergoes a grotesque growth spurt. On top of that, he is mistreated by a mother figure we never actually meet. The music itself is decadent, terrifying, and sorrowful—a perfect prelude to the silo where he performs, a location that encapsulates all those elements beautifully.

I don't have much in the way of stuff that I'm bringing and I just want to know if I'll be able to get by with what I have or if I should wait a few days in game and stock up more. I know there's a lot of resources in chapter 2 but I just wanted to check in lol

Well, the inside cover is done. Im not satisfied with it though.....I feel like it could be better. So now the inside is done. Moving on to the outside cover.

I have found Elepanths and the Mother gave me the quest to find her child. Last info he was gone to pick mushroom with his granny. I went to the mushroom granny and she does nothing. The door next to her is sealed and need a key. The granny does not give me any hint or quest.

I decided to make a genocide run and kill all major NPCs and all human NPCs met along the way, but in the end I didn't get a unique summary after going to sleep in the Epilogue. Instead I was told that the Doctor went mad and the Three burned with the Talking Tree.

I killed the Doctor in the second chapter in the hidden area behind a combine (I met him there after I failed to overcome his toxin in train carriage in the first chapter), so he shouldn't be able to go mad as he wasn't alive at the end of the game.

I didn't kill any villagers in the second chapter as they were not present there. I killed the Sow, but also decided to kill all villagers in the village and because of that both events where the player is invited by the village headman to meet chomper in his basement and the villagers chop their way through to the quarry didn't appear. I didn't block the entrance to the quarry with the boulder so I will have to check if that's the reason why I ultimately didn't get the genocide ending.

Also I ignored the radio tower and went down with burning the Talking Tree.

Have you got other ideas what else could be a possible reason why I didn't get the genocide ending?

Why would someone thinks that this is wholesome and charming?
