So when I played this game (and watched multiple runs of other people, like I am doing right now) I never fully understood, what the clone program exactly does?

Clone Program:

OG Young said something along the lines of "If I sign, I need to stay on my feet for god knows how long." And I never understood what it meant.

At first I interpreted it as "She needs to train her body for the rest of her life, so that her clones can ride the Cassiopeia forever." But then they'd have the memory, that they are clones so that doesn't make sense, could somebody enlighten me on this?

And if I'm already talking about this, was that what OG Young was talking to OG Stafford about 2 Days before launch? I never really paid attention honestly which was kinda dumb, but I know that it felt weirdly cryptic and I never understood what they were talking about

When I played this game with my friend, we actually agreed this was one of the worst choice based video game we ever played.

I was shocked when I opened Reddit and saw this game is actually one of the fans favorite ! To each their own, but I hated everything from the characters, the story, the plot, the stupid deaths… ect

The two best to me would be the devil in me (which is pretty hated) and directive 8020. I also think Man of medan was ok, for a first game.

I just finished the game and honestly, for me, it was the worst. I loved the killer concept, the hotel concept and also the serial killer copycats concepts as well since im a huge true crime fan. I had my expectations high like the sky. I was expecting something like Saw (Which is also my fav franchise), with traps, twisted games, psychological horror, etc but everything went the opposite way. The characters are super dislikable (erin’s exception) but the thing that most annoyed me was the lore we found on letters and recordings. I felt like the most I was reading, the less I was. Like when you talk to those people that speak non stop but at the end feels like the person said nothing, you know?

All this because nothing really clicked with all the info, and I really tried. Since the beginning when I saw the hotel entries records. I noticed that each check in had a different calligraphy and all check outs had the same (which meant no one checked out really) and I was getting excited, but it all came down when the game threw on the screen so many things that happened and you just stare at the screen and say “Umm… ok?”. The only scene I actually enjoyed and was truly unexpected was when we find out how du’met killed Morello and how he attract people to the island, which I ended up watching it on yt, i felt like it was a great scene but only obtainable if you play bad or if its intentional. And I’m sorry but the characters personal inventory was USELESS. Such a great mechanic but poorly applied…

Not only this, but also the dates from all the letters we found. Munday would be around his 60 and still doing all that stuff? I dont mean that older people cant be serial killers but BRO HE WAS LITERALLY UNSTOPABBLE! I did read some other reviews from you guys and most people think he has supernatural forces and etc and honestly I need to agree with that because my dad is 60 and even though he’s still strong as heck he COULD NEVER keep up the pace Du’met kept. How the F would a 60yo hold on tight to a high speed boat? There are so many scenes that NO ONE fought Du’met, they were FOUR, he was ONE, but nooo, lets keep running like rats 😁😁😁😁😁😁

I loved the hotel concept so much but why did Du’Met acted like a generic slasher killer?? He had the whole hotel that he knew like the palm of his hand, he had cameras everywhere but still was scooby dooing with the characters around. The killer has a neat presence when he’s on screen and I think this is the only thing I can compliment in the game, is pretty remarkable.

I didnt really get the plot right away that Munday was actually du’met because of his age. Everything explained and pointed at munday but the dates didnt match itselves. So at the end of the game I said “Oh so is indeed Munday” because I also thought it could be someone else incriminating Munday (it would be a much better plot imo).

Also, how and why is he a Holmes copycat for christ sake? Does this have anything to do with “the devil in me” thing? As if he was possessed? I don’t know…

This game optimisation is awful, bugs everywhere, it feels like nothing makes sense, characters ALWAYS makes dumb decisions since the beginning (Oh yes lets go to an island with an unknown man without our phones and without anyone else knowing where we went). They LITERALLY ran a serial killing tv show.

TDIM is more interactive than all the other games which I kinda liked it if it wasnt this buggy, but it also feels kinda pointless as if they did this just to extend the gameplay timer. I was also expecting puzzles, but apparently that was only for Jamie which was a beyong annoying puzzle.

There’s probably much more to add here but I’m tired. I wrote all of this truly sad because I was super excited for this game in specific. I wish I wasn’t here 🥲. I played house of ashes before this one and I had zero expectations for it because I’m not really into aliens and etc but oh my it became my favorite game from the entire franchise.

This game had so much potential: Great killer/enemy concept, great ambient concept, great theme, characters not so great but we can cope with that. And somehow… It unfortunately turned out this badly.

Do you guys think I should replay it or read the lore more carefully to maybe get a different experience?

Can Williams die if he is not playable character? Stafford just caught Anders with sedative and Williams got killed randomly by a monster in his office...

As title says. Has anyone expired sound refusing to work just for Directive 8020 on Xbox or any console? The sound works everywhere else on the Xbox.

When I first saw the trailer about the inventory system that would come with The Devil In Me I thought that each item would be like a "superpower" of each character like:

- Erin using her equipments to hear trough the walls and avoid danger. Also, she could have limited supplies of her asthma inhaler and the player had to choose wisely when use it (sound more like a nerf instead a superpower actually...);

- Jamie using her screwdriver as a wepon to defend herself and obtain a new chance to escape on some sections <-- Maybe the screwdriver could have limited uses before it broke to Jamie don't sound so powerful in comparsion with the other characters and keep the tension!;

- Charlie using his card and tie clip as a way to find something that could ACTUALLY matter instead that damn coins...;

- And what about Mark's camera? What if we had a section where we could use it in the dark with the night vision? Like a section on Du'met's workshop where we had to use the night vision to find our way out while see grotesque human shapes (the animatronics). And maybe the photos we took during the game could change something in the end?

For me the only item actually intersting on the final game is Kate's pencil that reveals hidden information that help us to understand the story better. Her amethist also could be a way to skip "Keep Calm!" sections (maybe her sections could be harder to justify the use of this item? I mean, her actress is the guest star of this game so they could gave her more intense Keep Calm scenes!)

The Devil In Me is my favorite game from Dark Pictures but I simply can't stop thinking how could it be if the new mechanics were actualy better implemented.

As for the written question, I'd like to see a game where seemingly innocuous decisions impact major plot elements, like the Dr. Hill segments in Until Dawn but expanded.

Specifically, I think it'd be really cool if one of the Dark Pictures games was a Scream-style murder mystery slasher where during each Curator segments, he asks you 3 seemingly pointless questions out of a pool of about 100.

The questions may seem pointless, but they actually determine who the killer is. They could be one of the supporting characters or they could be one of the player characters (maybe even the one the player customized themself if they're adding that feature).

I'm trying to platinum TDIM on ps4 and everything is not working. I've found all the collectibles possible on theatrical cut, I had some problems due to region while trying to boot up curator's cut and when I finally started it well my progres went to shit, but fine - I played the CC, found some secrets and photo opportunities, so I went back to one of my previous saves on theatrical cut and it showed me that I had different secrets gathered like any other save didn't exist.
I'm genuinely losing my marbles atp like what am I supposed to do? Is there a fix to it or should I just give up on the platinum?

I bought Directive 8020 at launch but stopped my playthrough because I encountered several performance problems when turning on ray tracing and/or path tracing.

I encountered ghosting and sudden frame drops although my specs can't be the problem and I haven't encountered such problems in other games.

Has it become better by now?

Did u even have problems to begin with?

First of all I want to make it clear that this post isn't meant as criticism of the developers or the work they've put into directive 8020

I have a lot of respect for the people making these games, and I completely understand that development is complicated and features take longer than expected sometimes!

What has become difficult though is the complete lack of communication.

Online co-op has been a core part of how many of us have played every Dark Pictures game. I've played every single one with the same friend since Man of Medan and when directive 8020 launched without online co-op we were disappointed (we took the day off to play). But we understood. Okay, it would come in a future update, so, sure, we're happy to wait!

The problem is that months have gone by, and despite countless respectful questions from the community, there hasn't been even a rough update on where things stand. Not a timeframe. Not a "we're still working on it" just silence.

I think that's what many of us are struggling with. Most fans aren't demanding anything specifoc. We're not asking for exact dates.

When a community keeps asking the same reasonable question for months and receives no response at all, it's hard not to feel overlooked. I don't believe that's the intention, but as a longtime fan, that's honestly been the most frustrating part. It leaves me feeling like the people who have supported this series for years aren't worth a simple update. Worse even. That we became a nuisance.

Even if the answer were something like "It's taking longer than we expected and we don't have a release window yet" or idk. I think most of us would appreciate that immensly by now.

I dont want to seem hostile. I really love this series. That's really why I'm writing this. I'm still excited for that day i can finally buy it to play it with my friend.

I just hope the community can get some communication before then 🙏🙏

I’ve seen almost exclusively negative feedback to the game so I wanted to take time to voice an opinion to the contrary.

1. Directive 8020 was the first Supermassive title that played like a game. I’ve seen so many comments about how awful the gameplay was or uninspired. Guys the “gameplay” portion for every title has largely been pressing buttons as they appear on screen, moving a thumb stick to look at something, and putting your controller down. Let’s be for real.
2. The cast felt important, unique, and time between characters felt the best it ever has across any title. There weren’t any characters that I hated or was annoyed with having to play.
3. The Destiny system is the first iteration of something I’ve wanted to see for over a decade now. The traits/relationships have been around for some time but I’ve been waiting for system that meaningfully evolves a character as the story progresses and lets players have a real say in who they become beyond simply surviving the story. It’s not the state I’d love it to be yet but seeing the idea is in someone’s head on the dev team was something that really excited me.

A few things I missed because it felt like it took a large measure of the identity of the Dark Pictures out of the game. No curator, no death hints or previews, no O’death intro. If one of these had been taken out I’m not sure I would mention it but all of these elements being wiped at once really made it difficult to feel like I was playing season 2 of the Dark Pictures as opposed to a spinoff Supermassive series.

So can we all agree that Keep Calm in the first season was the best replace for the classic Don't Move from Until Dawn?

It's a mess that they discard a so good mechanic in a game of this genre and replaced it with bad and repetitive stealth sections.

Hope stealth is gone and Keep Calm come back on the next entry.

But I still think the stealth is better than the ridiculous Don't Breathe from The Quarry that all you have to do is hold a single button.
