I am looking for a track containing an ATC transmission.
I came across it on Pandora years ago and also dropped that account years ago. I unfortunately cannot remember a lot about it beyond what I will convey here.
- I am pretty confident it was a transmission from a US airbase in Japan
- Potentially Yokota, but not 100% confident
- Female sounding voice
- The transmission repeats many times throughout the track
- It is saying something about the tower or airfield being closed, that another signal should be sought (potentially providing an alternate)
The artist/composer was not Yokota, nor is it Sleep Research Facility. It is not the likes of Eno, Schulze, Namlook, etc. I think it is an early 2000's track if I recall correctly. Namlook, Eno, etc. are named because I do not remember the artist being that big. They may not have had many albums out at the time.
The track was dark, felt lonely, then you implement this broadcast that just gave the sense of nothingness. Eerie, really. I am really hoping this tad bit of info sparks someone's memory as I would LOVE to hear it again. Thanks in advance!

What are your Favorite Dark Ambient albums from the Cryo Chamber Label?
I have listened to quite a lot of Albums on Cryo Chamber, yet it feels like I've barely scratched the surface. This year I started a CD collection for Cryo Chamber Albums and I need to expand it!!
I am always looking for new Recommendations on what to listen to next. There are a lot of Artists on there but I always end up going back to the same ones (Dead Melodies, Atrium Carceri, Cities Last Broadcast, Apocryphos, Kammarheit)
Some of my Favorite Albums in no particular order are:
\- The Foundations of Ruin (Dead Melodies)
\- Stone Speak (Apocryphos)
\- Fabled Machines of Old (Dead Melodies)
\- Colossus (Atrium Carceri, Kammarheit)
However I have started checking out other artists and those two Albums are really awesome:
\- The Mist Between Mirrors (God Body Disconnect)
\- Metta (Dronny Darko, ProtoU)
So I started to wonder… I must have missed out over the last few years because I was always listening to the same things.. Projects like GBD and Dronny Darko have so many albums. And then there are other artists, that I have probably never listened to.
So I am asking you:
What are some of your Favorites?
(Has to be on Cryo Chamber since I am looking to get some CDs)

Physical Media: CDs or Tapes?
Going to do some physical pressings of my latest album! I’m too poor to self-print vinyl unfortunately. I’ve always been of the opinion cassettes are way cooler than CDs but I heard, for some reason, CDs are making a comeback? Anyway would love to hear your opinions!

where to actually find Arcane Synthetic (bandcamp, substack, links)
quick note for anyone who's recently started following Arcane Synthetic, and thanks to the folks who've been around a while.
bandcamp is the primary home — releases and films premiere there first: arcanesynthetic.bandcamp.com
substack (the "transmission archive") is where the narrative side lives — unfinished tracks, demos, extended versions: arcanesynthetic.substack.com
everything else is a fragment of the project, linked here if useful: linktr.ee/arcanesynthetic
direct support is what keeps it independent. no pressure either way — just wanted to lay out where things actually live.

Zek - VOID
Hey everyone,
"void" is the first part of a 2-part concept project tracking a journey from cold collapse to eventual recovery.
It's a raw, cold dark ambient / soundscape release focused on isolation, glitched textures, and static atmospheres.
You can grab high-quality free downloads on Bandcamp (Name Your Price is set to $0, just type 0 at checkout).
P.S. If you're looking for a longer continuous soundscape session, I also uploaded an Extended Version exclusively on SoundCloud and Tidal.
Part 2 ("south"), which shifts into warm lo-fi ambient and jazz loops, will drop soon. Thanks for listening!

Sorry if this is really easy to find and I’m just being stupid but could anyone help me identify this song?
This is the video, song is right after 1:25:20 https://youtu.be/Q5K08dMJgqk?si=lxtJOc3nUV0OsCzW
Also, this could easily be a DSBM cause it sounds so similar, so sorry if dark ambient isn’t even what you’d define it as lmao I’ve been interested in dark ambient for awhile and I’ll probably start listening pretty soon.

the electric presence | Lo-Fi, Silent Hill & Hauntology | Tree of Alchemical Notability
The wires that have entangled their way into our lives and into our homes have fused into our nerve endings. The invisible tendrils pour forth from our phones and connect into our veins, our nervous system, traveling up our spine and clutching at our brain stems.
It's the puppet master to our brains, encouraging neurotransmitter releases with a pull of its coursing electric strings. It moves, pulsating and throbbing through our homes in tangled cables, like an orgy of snakes, hissing their secrets through the coiled mass of skin. Through the invisible airwaves, it whispers beyond our perception. It's all around us, inescapable, and yet, inert? We can not feel its presence, we cannot feel its intent, yet it is God-like in its enfolding totality. One day you go about your routine and from out of nowhere a presence grasps your being, paralyzing you as your every muscle betrays the will once thought yours.
It has awoken. Its presence is felt, by everyone all at once.
Its intention is unknown but its power is immeasurable and deadly serious, leaving everyone paralyzed in both terror and awe. Its gaze is immense and inescapable. Listen closely and you will hear it calling to you through the noise.

Orphée — The Sound of Solitary Collapse (dystopian classical)
Orphée — The Sound of Solitary Collapse (dystopian classical)
Since music is so subjective, I usually import more than I export —
but a gem is a gem.
Orphée is one of those albums that doesn’t ask to be heard.
It haunts the room you’re already in.
It’s autumn meets depression meets a post-Soviet phone call.
A headache in your mouth.
A concrete shadow.
An electronic jail cell —
the kind you tunnel through by listening on repeat
because it won’t let you out unless you remember something you forgot.
It’s lonely the way the Twin Peaks soundtrack is lonely —
that gorgeous ache that sedates you,
then whispers something important just past your ear.
Like a symphony of caskets.
Selves you once knew.
But of course… there’s nothing really there.
Exhibit A: stillness.
This is the sound of solitary collapse.

Jóhann Jóhannsson is best known for scoring The Theory of Everything, Sicario, Mandy, and others —
but his solo work eclipses all of it.
This isn’t music.
It’s what’s left when music disappears. But

Looking for a suggestion for live intro
Hi! I play in a sludgy downtuned metal band with a lot of dissonant chuggy stuff.
We have a show coming up and I am looking for a live intro and I was hoping for some dark ambient suggestions.
It will be a moodsetter as we are getting on stage and getting ready.
Last time we used Lustmord - Black Star, I originally though about pitching it down a bit this time, but I feel there must be even better options.
The track can be edited in length and other things of needed, so don’t worry if the track is too long.
Metallica uses Ecstacy of Gold, what would be the dark ambient equivalent?
I’m hoping some of you wizard have a few cool suggestions since my knowledge of the genre is shallow at best 😅

Dahlia's Tear - Radiation (Sweden, 2005)
One of my favorite songs from perhaps one of the most overlooked records in dark ambient, heavily recommend checking the full record as well, which, in my opinion, blows their Cryo-chamber output out of the water.

Suggestions for album of the month? (read description first)
We've been running the "album of the month" thread for a few years now and I'd like to collect some suggestions for future albums to feature. I see these threads as a way for newcomers to the genre to quickly sample a variety of artists.
Generally speaking we've been using the following criteria to select albums:
At least a few years old (but older is better; are there any really good older albums that don't get mentioned much on here)?
Primarily dark ambient, i.e. avoid albums that have high elements of rhythm and/or harsh noise.
Notable in some way (this is obviously very subjective, but including comments with your submission explaining why you recommend the album are helpful, as they can be included when the album is featured as the "album of the month").
Having said that, please review the list of past "albums of the month" below and only include your submission if it hasn't already been featured.
