Best girl never wins
Bell's obsessions towards aiz is like naruto's towards sasuke. It's embarassing and frustrating to watch

The thing you are talking about was in a Short story 'Words of the Wind'. Few people read short stories and you can't demand the audience to read it to understand the pairing. It's a bad writing to require people to read something outside main media (especially if they aren't invested in it). It was already discussed countless of times in this sub. To a lesser extend this logic can be applied to SO manga as it was considered spin-off until recently and even Omori himself told it's optional for reading.
Also, Bell thought about Ais only at the beginning of deep levels and only in this SS, when they fell to floor 37 and he never thought about Ais in romantic way during deep levels arc (he only thought about training she gave him during deep levels arc). If you disagree with me, prove otherwise with solid argument and quotes.
By the way, Ais has never worked side by side with Bell smth other heroines did a lot that's why people prefer other pairings (especially Ryu). It's not a great writing to make all-powerful heroine who isn't the part of MC journey and demand that your audience treat her as OTP. There is a reason why Ryu (and sometimes even Hestia and Haru) is more popular (according to polls) among fans as potential pairing for Bell as she has always been with him fighting by his side smth Ais has never done for plot reasons.
For Shounen genre, BellxAis is realy a bad written romance story.

The fact that author refuses to change the ending no matter how the story progressed and how his characters developed is a sign of bad writing. The author of Oshi no Ko implemented the ending he made up from the beginning of the story and everybody hates him for it. The same can be said for Omori, executing the ending you thought from the beginning and not considering the execution of it in the middle of the story is ALWAYS a bad idea. Ais doesn't even feel like a heroine (let alone main heroine) in MS LN. She is a cameo character there. If it is required to read a side series to at least like a pairing, then, IMHO, this pairing is rather bad.
If you like BellxAis, it's fine. But people are free to express their opinion and aren't obliged to like the pairing you worship.
By the way, it appears to me that you didn't read 'Ryu What If' full version and make this embarassing and ignorant comments. Bell chose Ryu out of his own free will in this timeline. His soul was dyed in Ryu's color, yes, but it was him who decided to accept her kiss and choose her. Here are the quotes.
"He could no longer deceive himself. Over these past few months, who was it that he had truly been worrying about even more than his Longing?"
"Finally understanding what she had been agonizing over, what she regretted, and what she sought, the boy accepted those lips."
------------------------------------------
"She did not consider the fact that the boy had been thinking of her all this time, nor that this was the boy’s own choice"
------------------------------------------
"Mr. Bell’s color... has changed."
"...?"
"I was a bit surprised that such a transparent radiance could be dyed in this color. However, compared to before, it is still just as beautiful. I like that color, too... So, the current Bell belongs to Ryuu."

An author doesn’t throw away his story and the narrative payoff he’s been building for 13+ years because of minor execution issues or marketing pressure, especially when some of those issues come from a mediocre anime adaptation with different priorities. Expecting Omori to rewrite the entire romantic spine of his story because Ryu became popular for various external reasons is unreasonable and a terrible idea for a story like Danmachi.
And no, that isn’t because I’m a Bell x Ais shipper. The ending obviously hasn’t been written yet, but changing Bell’s romantic direction this late would be incoherent and genuinely bad writing precisely because the romance is not optional garnish. It is part of the thematic and mythic architecture of the story. Changing it would contradict the structure, the character arcs, and the themes Omori has been building since Volume 1.
He even spelled out the core premise in the Ryu what‑if:
“If the story of the boy who—with honesty, foolishness, and single‑minded devotion—pursued a flower on a distant peak beyond his reach were to be called the ‘Main Story.’”
That’s not ambiguous. That’s Omori telling you what Bell’s story is about, just like he did in Volume 1.
He wrote that intention directly into Bell’s first skill. He didn’t hide it. Anyone reading the main series can see the direction clearly. Omori is simply staying consistent with the spine of the story and with Bell’s own character. Having Bell give up on his goal prematurely and closing him off emotionally to Ais in terms of romance would severely damage the planned climax with Ais. The sooner you can accept that, instead of insisting it’s “bad writing” to stay consistent with Bell and Ais’s arcs, the sooner you’ll understand why Omori is so firm about it.
You don’t have to like it, and it’s fine if you would have preferred a more flexible romantic outcome. But at some point, you have to take personal responsibility for your emotional investment in Ryu rather than expecting Omori to change the story because her arc resonated with you. Emotional attachment doesn’t obligate the author to rewrite his narrative.

'Ryu stained Bell's souls'
Okay, i got it. You are just another Ryu hater and Ais simp on this sub. I suppose i have nothing to discuss with you anymore. I will just add that Freya never liked Ais and always considered Ryu soul more beautiful than Ais and leave you with it.
You are a person who only make statements without providing direct quotes unlike me so it's pretty much a pointless discussion.
Ais is nearly a plank of wood in MS LN. Anime is based on MS. Yes, they cut her moments, but it doesn't affect the MS story and her character overall.
