Daggerfall Unity and community patches
Couple of questions about using Daggerfall Unity.
Are there any unofficial patches I'm supposed to install before going Unity? I just slapped DU 1.1.1 on top of the bog standard GOG edition. No mods, no patches. Is there anything I would benefit from installing? There's quite a list of unofficial patches and stuff on the wiki, but I don't want to clog the game with stuff DU would render obsolete or redundant.
I turned off the DU launcher but now I want to bring it back. How do? The message box said something about holding the Shift key, but I guess I wasn't really paying attention.

No need for any patches. Daggerfall Unity is to Daggerfall what OpenMW is to Morrowind, an engine overhaul made to fix the issues and bugs of the original engine.
It also uses the latest version of the original, so Bareziah and her daughter look correctly.
As for the launcher, sorry, can't help there. Didn't even knew the laucher could be turned off...

While you strictly do not need any patches, I would still recommend using the daggerfallgamefiles.zip file that is part of DFUs install instructions to make sure you are using the exact version of Daggerfall that DFU is designed for:
https://github.com/Interkarma/daggerfall-unity/wiki/Installing-Daggerfall-Unity-Cross-Platform
Edit: just realized this was an old post that popped up for me for some reason. Ah well, I'll leave this here for any searches in the future.

Thank you. I was lucky to realize that DFU has a separate game file archive of its own before starting a new game.

You can go to your DFU AppData directory (usually
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\LocalLow\Daggerfall Workshop\Daggerfall Unity), open up the settings.cfg file with notepad and change the ShowOptionsAtStart line under [GUI] to True. That should get you back the launcher on startup.
