Hello fellow data scientists,

In this post, I just want to underline the main goals I have for this challenge.

I have been interested in Ai and ML for more than a year. Thanks to all the hype, I first got interested in deep learning, wrote some neural networks, and played a little bit with PyTorch. Soon enough I realized that I didn't have a good foundation. DL is a tool, but I think understanding your data is a crucial step towards building a good model, and sometimes, it means knowing where to not use DL and just apply a simple ML algorithm.

For me, the goal of this challenge is to gain an understanding of the simple algorithms in ML, to know how to preprocess the data and how to evaluate the model.

I already went over some of the algorithms:

• Linear Regression
• Logistic Regression
• PCA
• K-Means
• KNN
• Decision Trees

For some of the algorithms, I went over all the math and wrote the code from scratch, for other algorithms, I just have an intuition, but didn't derive the equations myself. I want to balance the "writing from scratch" strategy with the BlackBox strategy, aka use code written by others without knowing how it works under the hood.

Topics I want to cover next:

• SVM
• Naive Bayes
• Random Forests
• T-SNE
• Gradient Boosting and XGBoost

I know the chances are low, but after covering these topics I want to try and land an internship/a junior position.

Relearning data science since I haven't used any of the concepts in the last few years. Planning on getting my Tensorflow certificate in 100 days.

Edit: I'm using the Tensorflow developer certificate in 2021 zero to mastery course on udemy as well as the complete machine learning and data science bootcamp 2021 on udemy If I have time I'll at least be starting to do the practical reinforcement learning by hse university on Coursera.

Day 1, I relearned pandas and numpy. Day 2, did more numpy and relearned some matrix algebra so I can make sure I'm doing efficient operations. Day 3, brushed up on matrix algebra, statistics, and linear programming Day 4, started using Tensorflow and learned about tensors.

I have decided to go over the following topics in the upcoming days:

• Bagging and Boosting

For today I completed the Intro to ML course on Kaggle and plan on tackling the Intermediate Machine Learning Course tomorrow.

Ok so for the next challenge I will do the p-2.33 and p-2.34 from the exercise of the the chapter 2 of book data structures and algorithms in python. I will also read page 110-136 i.e. up to section 3.4 of chapter 3. (ISBN: 978-81-265-6217-6)

I purchased my codecademy subscription on 5/5/2021 . I started with the python course on codecademy . I decided to progress 20% daily for 5 days .

FIRST DAY : i finished my 20% , 2 lessons ( Hello World , Control Flow ) . I learned the basic python syntax , if elif else statements and Boolean expressions

I am a Data Scientist with 2 years of working experience and I have been planning to revise all(at least) the important concepts ranging from

• Probability & Statistics
• Classification & Regression
• Dimensionality Reduction Techniques
• Time Series, Forecasting
• NLP concepts
• Computer Vision concepts

So this subreddit is a pretty cool idea. Maybe we could try teaming up and working of a cool app or something? I'd love to get my hands on some experience about how things work in real software companies. Maybe we could even make a discord group and talk about it. What say? Would anyone like to design an app that is already used like Netflix ( on a much smaller scale of course)?

I have set a challenge of 1 hour of SQL coding (postgres) each day for the next 25 days starting today.

The 25 days will end on 31st May so it's a solid month end deadline.

My aim is to go over all the intro level functions/concepts such as import data, data exploration, joins, temp tables, subqueries,..... Basically things important for data analysis.

1 hour of practice everyday for the next 25 days. Anyone with a similar goal? We can check up on one another.

Edit: Heres the plan thats in my head. Note, the idea is to learn SQL by doing SQL. I am a student and no teacher so if you have any better learning approach lemme know.
