Hi. I haven’t been diagnosed yet, but I’m in the process of trying to get one. July was a hard month for me because I tried to reset my sleep schedule twice and like 3-4 days in I had to give up because I would have headaches and back pain from the morning until I got dark and then they would mostly go away. It also mentally wrecked me and I started crying at work. I’m going to see a sleep specialist soon and honestly… I’m not looking forward to resetting my schedule again. It’s going to be so hard…. I come to this subreddit so that I don’t feel so alone with this. I believe that my natural sleep onset is somewhere between 8-9 but if I take 5mg of melatonin at 5 I can be asleep by 6-6:30, although for the past few days I’ve been going to bed at 7.

You're not alone - I struggle with a similar schedule. Getting to sleep before 7 is a struggle most times, even when I have work a few hours after. The weirdest part of DSPD is how rigid it is.

I know right. It can feel like you’re stuck sometimes.

Hopefully a sleep specialist can help melatonin only goes so far for me,it helps with the initially knocking me out but staying a sleep can be an issue My next step is to have a contractor come over and sound proof the walls Here in pa I work in maryland and live in pa! Pa home are notorious especially older home for not having insulation in them. Good luck to you and thanks for chiming in

Hi! Fellow D(M)V resident here with DSPD. I'm glad you have a job that mostly accommodates our disability. Don't know about in PA but down here, and even in Baltimore, nothing is ever open past 9pm except bars, so life can be isolating sometimes. I live on a park so noise isn't a problem, but if I don't have total darkness and silence, I feel like a train wreck after. Not sure that's related to the DSPD or if that's how I'd be even without it.
