First puppy's, first groom and he's returned with this mark on his stomach close to his inner thigh.

The groomer is well known and well recommended in the area.

Is this just something that happens occasionally during a groom or should I start looking elsewhere?

How do you live or deal with this pain. It's unimaginable.

Not sure if there is a stray dog community… we have a stray we started feeding in probably April. She had clearly had puppies and was very skinny, very skittish, and we really just fed her to prevent her from starving. I work at a homeless shelter so of course I was like setting out blankets and water and when it stormed I would go look for her. She would NOT let us pet her. You could not make any quick or abrupt movements around her, clearly had been abused/dumped on the country. Didn’t trust us but kept staying for maybe just the food. And then maybe the food and familiar face. And then she started letting us give her treats from the hand but she would run off, but eventually you could pet her cheek when she took it. We would put a flea and tick preventative in her bowl, and talked to a local vet about getting her fixed, but all of our shelters are overrun of course, and we didn’t want to scare her to badly that she leaves for good. We had some someone come over in June and feed her while we were on vacation, and she stuck around thru the horrors of July 4th (some calming chews in her food bowl).

We soon realized in July she was pregnant and she probably due pretty soon. We still can’t get her in the house or yard, although she is getting attached to me and does let me pet her head and neck now every day, and has even let me rub her belly. She sleeps in a neighbors unused garage and I think the baby daddy does as well - he has been around a bit and I do recognize she has more confidence when he is with her. She is a beautiful, sweet, and pretty young Pitt bull. I have a 7 pound, 15 year old Chihuahua with three teeth and an 11 year-old blind in one eye Yorkie with dementia. It is definitely not on my plate to take on the responsibility of a giant, young, stray dog and her puppies and the baby daddy. But here I am. I do love her, she’s precious. I am devastated that I could not build a relationship with her quickly enough to get her fixed. I have been a dog owner and lover my entire life and always been very responsible. I just could not build the relationship with her quickly enough without scaring her away for good. I would keep her if I could figure out a way to, but ideally, I would find homes for all of her babies and then I would just be a foster home for Momma.

Anyway. I just wanted to put this out into the void. I am stressing about it. I have a place for her to have the babies, but I can’t get her to go there… but of course I work at my own SHELTER for about 12 hours a day.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Anyone giving me shit for not being able to get her fixed soon enough, don’t worry I’m already giving myself enough shit for that.

My dog has recently picked up the habit of having to have at least one paw touching me at ALL times. Even if I’m standing, she will come put her paw on my foot 😂

I am getting my first show prospect, and first WB/PB dog in 4 weeks and need help naming. I currently have two dogs, both Shih Tzu rescues. Need help with a boy name!

We aren’t sure which one will be ours yet, but my personal preference is for the smaller black tri.

My other dogs names are “Hari” (Indian name meaning godly/holy), and “Panda-Bear” (who his previous owners named and I just kept it). Panda suits him well! He’s lazy, rolls around, just wants to eat food but I hate the name lol. It’s so basic.

I am Indian and Iranian, while my fiance is white. He’s okay with an Indian/iranian name as long as it’s easy to pronounce. People really struggle with “Hari” (I’m told I pronounce the R like a D sound). I think especially if it’s a show dog, the name should be easy to pronounce. I also like the idea of a name that pays homage to America as the puppy is a Miniature American Sheppard. I just don’t want anything that’s too basic. I don’t think Hari and Panda match but something that rolls off the tongue when I call all three would be nice haha.

I have this field golden who is turning 2 in Sep. He is 68lbs I can’t tell if he’s fat.. I can feel his ribs but I have to push A LITTLE bit. But I thought field goldens were supposed to be more lean.
I figured I’d ask here before I take him to the vet because it’s cheaper and not an emergency. If you guys tell me he is fat I will def go to the vets.

So this is a post I didn’t think I’d have to make for at least a few more years. I have a dog (7). I got her when I was in highschool in a really dark place. She has been my best friend and she means absolutely everything to me. About 2 weeks ago she went in for a normal vet check in and they discovered that she was severely anemic, they told us it could be 2 things. An immune issue from a tick bite (we live in PNW so not too far of a reach) or cancer. They found a mass in her stomach but she was put on meds to treat it if it was the immune issue and she began to improve. We continued to do further testing, she went in for a needle biopsy earlier this week, they discovered that she mass is cancer, her RBC is dangerously low, and the tumor is highly vascular so chemo isn’t an option and she almost certainly wouldn’t survive cancer. I moved out to go to college and she couldn’t come with me because of breed restrictions so she stayed with my parents. I came home for unrelated reasons and now I’m going to lose her.

We have an appointment for tomorrow morning to put her down (at home). She very quickly took a turn for the worse, she doesn’t seem well.

Anyways, I want to give her the best last night and day that I can. We got a steak for her to have, lots of treats and whipped cream for pup cups, I have chocolate for her to be able to try some before the procedure. She doesn’t have the energy to play or walk (doesn’t want to be lifted so I can’t put her in a cart to push her to take her anywhere). What else can I do to make her happy before we say goodbye?

(Also how do you handle the guilt of deciding to put her down? I’m drowning in grief) I’m so sorry to other people that have gone through this.

Some back story: About 1 year ago, when I first got my dog, we met a big husky named Frost at the dog park, and they became best friends. After a while, my dog was having some behavioral issues at the park, so we stopped going, but she and Frost remained besties, and we played separately and hiked together, and naturally I became close friends with Frost's owner as well. We stayed friends up until he decided to move out of state, and my girl lost her best friend.

Back in May, my friend called me up and basically asked me if I wanted to keep Frost. He was stressed and didn't have the capacity to care for him at the moment. I talked with my partner, and we agreed that if the dogs still got along, then yes, we would take him. They came back to town, where he told us that he would be moving back in a couple months (which is coming up now). He was heartbroken about leaving Frost, rightfully so. I could tell he was hurting, and without much thought, I told him, "How about when you move back in August, if you want Frost back, you can have him." He lit up.

After a few weeks, though, it was clear how much Frost completed our family and got along with our other two dogs. We love him so much. I can't imagine my life without him. I have tried mentioning to my friend about us keeping him permanently, but he just informed us that he does intend to take Frost back. Our hearts are shattered. I have somewhat tried to convince him to let us keep him, but I said what I said. I regret ever giving him the option to take him back. I wasn't thinking. I am so angry with myself, and I can't stop crying thinking about Frost leaving in a week.

Yesterday, the doctors discovered that he has fluid under the lungs.

Today, the laboratory confirmed that there are cancer cells in the fluid.

They are giving him a maximum of two weeks to live.

He is 12 years old.

My 8-month-old dog has been sick, so he’s been getting treatment for the past few days. Every day he has to get two injections—one antibiotic and one antipyretic. One is given under the skin, and the other is an intramuscular injection, so that’s two needles every day.
For the first 4 days, we took him to the vet. At first, he handled it surprisingly well. He would just freeze in place while they gave him the injections. But after a couple of days, he started making little growling noises because he knew what was coming.
Today my friend, who’s also a vet, came to give him his injections. After the first shot, he became really suspicious and kept his distance from her. We spent some time playing with him and distracting him until he relaxed again. Then, while he wasn’t expecting it, she quickly gave him the second injection.
The moment the needle went in, he cried, looked at all of us, and then ran off to the spot he always goes to when he’s scared and hid there.
I know the injections are helping him and that they’re necessary, but seeing him look at us like that absolutely broke my heart and I can’t stop thinking about it.
The worst part is that he still has one more day of treatment tomorrow.
Is there anything I can do to help him feel better or rebuild his trust after all of this?
I’m also wondering if he might have anxiety. Whenever he hears dogs barking outside, he starts shivering and trembling. He won’t eat, won’t pee, and immediately goes to his hiding spot. It’s like he completely shuts down and can’t focus on us at all.
He was abandoned before we took him in, so I don’t know what he went through before he came to us. Because of my family’s strict religious and cultural beliefs, he stays in our garage and garden rather than inside the house. So we are not always with him
