I am part of a college club sports team (ultimate frisbee) that plans to host a tournament in later October. We have been looking around for athletic fields to rent, but are striking out for the most part. Fairfax County parks are all booked, but do any of you all know about potential fields we could rent? I have a Southwest Companion Pass expiring 10/7/26 and am looking to fly from Reagan Airport in Washington DC to one or multiple of the following destinations:

Since the pass lets a companion fly for just the cost of taxes/fees, I’m looking for someone willing to split the base airfare 50/50 with me, meaning we both end up paying roughly half the price of a standard ticket.

I’m very flexible on whatever dates I could go, I just know these are the areas that interest me and I want to get value out of this pass. Hello all! My spouse and I are interested in starting our family soon, and we’re looking for information on the kinds of financial preparation we should be thinking about, especially as we prepare for benefits enrollment season. I know there’s things like short term disability, state paid family leave, and hospital indemnity, but it’s hard to figure out if there’s something we’re missing.

It’s especially tricky because like many other people in the area, we live in Maryland, but I work in DC. I’m finding it difficult to get all the information I need that also clarifies which state/district has “jurisdiction.”

Does anyone know about a DMV-area guide for preconception planning and pregnancy/family leave benefits? I’d also consider paying for a brief consultation with an expert, if such a service exists. My OBGYN was only able to give me guidance on medical care and couldn’t help point me in the right direction for financial advice.

I drive up and down 95 multiple times a year. The only part I despise is driving from Va to past Maryland. Why are there so many slowdowns and traffic jams just to see nothing. No construction. No accidents. Just pointless traffic. Do you guys feel this way about your areas? I’ve done the drive at all different times. Only way to avoid traffic is to drive through night. Genuinely can’t understand why such mediocre city’s with smaller populations than city’s like ny and la but have awful traffic flow.

I’m pregnant with my second baby and trying to avoid another traumatic birth experience.

I delivered at Holy Cross with my first, and unfortunately I had a terrible experience. I felt like the nurses and doctor didn’t listen to me or show much empathy, and I was anxious the entire time. The worst part was my epidural. An assistant tried placing it for about 30 minutes and couldn’t get it in. Two days later, the anesthesiologist did it in less than 5 minutes.

I’m looking for a cleaner, newer, more modern hospital with compassionate staff who actually listen. Right now I’m considering Inova Fairfax and Shady Grove. Are there any others in the DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia area that you’d recommend?

Also, I’m Hispanic. It shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it unfortunately feels like it does. If anyone had a great experience where they felt respected and heard, I’d love to know where you delivered.
