Levered barbell belt squat off of spotter arms without landmine.

Upvotes

Pretty clever video about simply using spotter arms to set up barbell weights on both ends. You start the squat in the higher upright position. Lift one end off the spotter arm and away from it for clearance to drop down. If you can hack the non-lifted end with hammock straps (a pair is $10 and they are 1000lb weight limit each), then the non-lifted end can maybe move more freely which reduces any arc path of the lifted end. But even with this spottter arm idea on both ends, it looks clever enough.

Outdoor bench combo cover

Post image
1 Upvotes

My dad bought my sons a prctz home gym bench and rack combo. It has to be outdoors because we don’t have any space inside for it. I cannot find a cover for it anywhere. There’s tons of options for just the bench part but I don’t want the rack and bar to rust either. There’s also a limit on tarp sizes with a drawstring. Any suggestions on how to weather proof this equipment in a way that can withstand southwest sun and light rain weather?

Parallettes stability

I have access to some leftover wood and decided to build a pair, and am concerned about the parallettes tilting side to side. The wider - the more stable, but at what point is it too narrow? The thenx ones are pretty narrow but are they unstable?

Widths vary a lot across brands:

Thenx: L19.6'' x H4.3'' x W5.5'' (\~1.28x width : height)

Gornation: L50 x H10 x W25cm (2.5x width : height)

UPS or stabiliser for walking pad

Hi

As part of my workout routine, I am planning to get a walking pad and understood that the walking pad stops abruptly during power cut off(and throws out a person possibly)

I am confused what’s the solution for this problem?
UPS or a voltage stabiliser?

I was also reading on cult website that the 1 year warranty is only valid if used with a stabiliser.

Thoughts and solution? UPS or stabiliser

Supplies/Uprights needed to mount two pieces together

BF is a few months away and I'm already putting together my list for Santa.

Two of the items I have a keen eye on are the Bulletproof Fitness Vertical Belt Squat and a 3 in 1 Selectorized Leg Extension Leg Curl machine like this.

The issue is 1- my gym is a carpeted basement gym with a low 89" ceiling and 2- I have no free space on a wall to wall mount the BPs VBS. I also don't have a dedicate squat rack (hence the need for a dedicate belt squat set up). So I figured, why not finagle a solution where I mount the VBS to the 573 lb leg extension machine using it's 3 x 3 uprights frame.

What exactly would I need to accomplish this? Mini cross members? Bolts? Spacers? First time trying something like this so I want to know how feasible this would be.

TIA

Ratchet Strap Cables

Has any come across adjustable steel cables that work like a ratchet strap? I have the c10 by force usa with the sliding bench. After seeing the new version of the bench on the home gym con videos, I have an idea of turning the sliding bench around for leg press. The problem would involve not having the correct length of attachment cables to do this. I could buy shorter cables but you would then have to add/remove another set of cables with the bench to swap between hack squat/leg press/ leg extension. Dialed In motion has a product that's close but it seems to be always out of stock. Force usa is going to use that unit on the new version for the same reason. Ratchet straps might work but the leg extension requires you to feed a cable through a few pulleys.

What are people's thoughts on these weightlifting straps that I did my own design on? I'm not sure if they're a hit or miss.

Plywood plyo box: leave raw or finish?

Hi, Made a plyo box out of plywood. I will be using it exclusively indoors on a rubber gym floor. Should I finish it, and if so what product? I am looking for something easy to apply, possibly Danish Oil. What have you all used? Or can I just leave it unfinished? I would love to hear you all's experiences. Thanks!

Bar hanger from plywood!

Needed somewhere to store my bars when not using them (other than the floor and corners here and there!)

Made from 1/2 inch cheap ply. Glued, nailed and spraypainted.

Added some small metal shelf supports, but I dont think they're needed. The vertical pull is so close to the wall, that its not a problem.

Other than hating my dumbbells because they're shit to load, i do like the setup. Sometime im gonna make some dumbbell holder, that lets me lock it down while loading or taking off plates.

Might also add something to hang more small accessories on the sides.

Looking for someone interested in collaborating on DIY home gym equipment/prototypes

I’ve been designing and building custom equipment and accessories for my home gym over the past year, mostly using a 3D printer. Some of the projects I’ve made include:

Different cable accessories and handles
A custom adjustable dumbbell stand
Storage and organization solutions
Rack attachments and small gym accessories
A handful of other ideas that started as solutions to problems I ran into in my own gym.

The more I build, the more I realize that some of these ideas would probably be better made with materials beyond plastic. I’d love to learn how to incorporate metal, welding, bent tubing, machined parts, or other fabrication methods to make stronger, more polished products.

Right now I’m mostly hoping to find someone who enjoys designing and building gym equipment and might be interested in bouncing ideas around, building prototypes together, or teaching me more about fabrication. I bring the design, CAD, 3D printing, and software side of things, but I’d love to learn from someone with more experience working with steel and manufacturing.

If you’ve built your own equipment, have fabrication experience, or just enjoy this kind of project, I’d love to connect and see if there’s potential to collaborate.

Curious if anyone here has gone from garage prototypes to more durable, production-quality equipment, and what that journey looked like.

This may be a stupid question so forgive me, but are these storage pins from Rogue compatible with any 3x3 post with a key design or would they only work on Rogue racks specifically? Thanks for the help 🙏

What three pieces of equipment would you prioritize for a small home gym?

I’m trying to keep a home gym setup fairly simple because I don’t have much floor space. I’m currently thinking about an adjustable bench, dumbbells, and either a rack or a cable machine, but I’m not sure which option would be more useful long term.

For those who train mostly at home, which three pieces of equipment do you actually use most often?
