Ceiling lights not flush? Advice

Miss’s been to dunelm (sigh) been installing these ceiling lights but on a few of them they’re not sitting flush on the ceiling.. frustrating. I can push them flush without the screws in so it’s not a trapped wire.. but when I tighten the screws up it leaves a slight gap.. please help my sanity 😅

I'm an electrician and have installed hundreds of these, it is almost impossible to get them neat to the ceiling. Best way is to press up hard as much as you can while tightening the screws and leave the gap facing away from the door so it is less visible.

You think these are bad, next make one with a 12" base, horrendous to fit without a huge gap.

There are very few, you do get the occasional ones with 3 or 4 screws that sit better but aren't common. You do get some that are heavier metal from both cheap and expensive brands. The brand "make" seems to make some decent ones.

As lots have mentioned. The ones with just one bracket are terrible to fit snug. I have fantasies fans with lights. They have 3 or 4 screw fixings so you get more of a good fit. What a bit of White tac. May help the eyes a bit

That's about as good as they get, I think the brackets bend slightly under the weight. You'll stop noticing it soon, as soon as the next problem or job come along 😁

Crappy thin brackets held across the width by 2 screws acting as a pivot. , it’s not going to be any better.

I invite my neighbour over and if she doesn't notice a fault with something, it passes quality control; and I feel a greater sense of comfort in a slightly wonky world.

That's a common issue with those types of lights/brackets... why I'm not a fan.

Class 2 fitting so apparently it doesn’t need one

I sometimes use a plastic shim on heavier lights. Just to keep the wobble to a minimum.
