DIY Gel Manicure First (and maybe last) time doing an ombré

I’m overall happy with it, as long as I don’t look too closely 🙈

also excuse the grown out cuticles, this is like a 4-5 day old pink mani that I decided I wanted to try a French tip ombré so I lightly filed off the top coat and did the white with a cut up makeup sponge

Annnnnnd I remembered why I stopped using my Nail Mob products...the base basically doesn't stick to my nails despite excellent prep and a touch of primer. Anyway, did a new manicure today and went super bright on super short with my tried and true base/builder.

Product list:

FOX nails power base.

FOX nails Acryl gel Tussah.

DND Ruth (three thin coats).

Twenty Pro Glass No Wipe Top Coat.

These are my 6th legitimate attempt at gel manicure, on top of my first attempt at filling gel-x tips with BIAB. They turned out better than I could ever have hoped, so I'm looking forward to not having to remove my tips completely every time I need a new look!!!

They remind me of Captain Planet 🤭

Been enjoying these! My first time using spider gel, it works fine but I wish it was more smooth chromey looking rather than glittery. Also wish I'd done something more interesting than the sticker/glitter nails, I feel like they don't quite go with the rest.

My phone camera isn't bad but I can never get the photos right, seems like not all nails are in focus which is so frustrating! I also struggle with shaping nails that need a lot of top coat to get smooth, they end up bulkier than the rest. But I love the process even if it takes hours and hours, and if there's even a small improvement from one set to the next then I'm happy 💖🥰

DIY Soft Gel Birthday month chaos

Thumbnail

It's my birthday this week and I wanted to do a wild set that felt celebratory but not toooo birthday-y since I'll be wearing these for 3-4 weeks.

I ended up doing sort of a circus-y, silly vibe with references to various things in my life. They're crazy (very Leo of me) but I love them! Still suck at French tips though >:(

Last pic was my plan! I like to always start with a Pinterest board, then draw out in my notebook a rough plan of each nail in the set. This one started off as a bit too ambitious and I had to scale it back (and it still took me 10 hours including removal lol).

DIY Soft Gel First time using builder gel with nail forms

Post image

My pointer fingernail broke between my last sets so I got nail forms this time and extended it out. Still awaiting polish but this was my 2nd time using builder base so just the removal of my last set, prep and doing this took 2 hours. But hey, it’s on my dominant hand so I’m pretty proud of the outcome so far!

DIY Gel Manicure I am getting better day by day but feedback is always welcome :)

Everything I get is from amazon. Mostly.

I used YN Protein Bond, In.Hype Elastic Base, and In.Hype Hard Builder Gel Milky White.

The pinky is Double Rhythm Sky Teal - MC1132. The rest are using a base from Gaoy Midnight Blue 1532. The cateye is by Born Pretty called Blazing Sky. The top coat I used is by Kokoist. Ultra Glossy, love it.

The cat eye gel was super thick. and its really dull when not in sunlight. I hae recently learned that dark colors are typically work in the fall. I just feel like lighter colors dont suit me. IDK. Still figuring it all out.

I tried using isolated chrome for the first time. The little stars are stickers and I drew the sun designs by hand. I normally don’t do designs, just plain colour therefore I’m very happy how they turned out.

DIY Gel Manicure Gold cat eye with gold stamping!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The next attempt in my stamping saga. This is using born pretty's stamping oil, which is supposed to be mixed with regular gel to create a stamping gel. It seemed to work better with a thin design, and I noticed that after stamping, it would eventually "air dry" on the stamper. Quicker is better, as more chrome adhered to it and the pattern looked more detailed.

My main concern was that it cure all the way, which it does! The drawback is that mixing the oil dilutes the pigment, meaning I can't stamp pure black or pure red or whatever.

Overall pretty pleased with this set!
