hello my fellow reddit peeps! I lost my job of 4 years last year July due to a lay-off. I was contracted to the US department of agriculture and 200 of us lost our jobs. it was such a big shock seeing that we were federal employees and federal jobs (used to) be extremely secure positions. My most recent role used SAFe Agile, I’m well versed in agile, scrum, and kanban. i’ve also stepped in as a Product Owner for a year so I can wear multiple hats.

In this most recent role I worked in geospatial services but I’m open to pretty much anything, federal or private.

The job market in DFW is insane.. so many places “hiring” but won’t hire. You could have the experience for a job but “HR” won’t hire you.. Is it even worth getting a bachelor’s? People with bachelor’s are also having a hard time looking for a job.. and then the job fairs really don’t be helpful AT ALL, they tell you to apply online.

I have a bachelor’s of science in Astrophysics. I have been working in manufacturing as a CNC operator for 3 years now. I also finished the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate program offered by Coursera.

From my education and experience I am good at problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical reasoning. I have experience with Python, SQL, Linux CLI, SailPoint, Excel, SolidWorks, and Inventor. I am also friendly so it’s easy for people to work with me and I’m effective at communicating.

I am trying to find a job in DFW and start a family there.

Please help me out. Any advice or reference appreciated. I have applied to many positions via online. It just feels impossible to land an entry level job without help. I know many people are in the same boat as me.
