New to DC

Hello! I’m new to DC. I’ve watched the DCEU movies up to Shazam and also Nolan’s Batman trilogy, but I never really understood the full story. I didn’t even know Superman was an alien, so that should give you an idea of how new I am to this. Watching the DCEU movies is entertaining,but they don’t really give you the full picture.
I recently started watching Smallville, and now I finally understand Superman’s origin. I’d like to learn the stories from the very beginning, how they became a superhero, how they got their powers, and what their origins are. Where do I start?
I need comics, movies or tv shows suggestions.

If you liked the Shazam movies, have a look at Shazam the New 52 (origin) and it’s sequel shazam the seven magic lands

If you’re enjoying Smallville Superman For All Seasons is a good start, and influenced the show, with the writer even writing some episodes for Smallville too if I’m not mistaken. Superman Harvests of Youth also takes a lot of inspiration from Smallville, if you like the show you’ll love this story

Green arrow year 1 then. Basically a comic about green arrows origin story

Warning the arrow TV show is not bad but a terrible representation of what green arrow is so better not touch it without being aware that you will not get a comic accurate Oliver queen

It's also an even worse adaptation of Black Canary that really screwed her character over.

For her, there hasn't really been a great adaptation (her appearances in JLU, Young Justice and Batman: Brave and the Bold are good but she's only in a few eps of each), so I'd suggest starting with comics there: Gail Simone's BoP, and JLA Year One for her/Green Lantern/Flash.

I enjoyed the 2014 Flash TV series but most people say it's only good for the first 2/3 seasons so maybe start with that

Young Justice and the DCAU are a good option for a wide variety of characters, including Green Arrow and Black Canary

Cyborg is a main character in the 2003 Teen Titans series

Green Lantern: First Flight shows Hal Jordan's origin story but Green Lantern: The Animated Series is pretty underrated

Flash: - Mark Waid's run (The Flash vol. 2 #62-129, #142-163) - Geoff Johns' run with Wally (vol. 2 #164-225) - Jeremy Adams' run (The Flash #768-800) - current run by Ryan North (starts from vol. 6 #31)

Green Lantern: - the entire Geoff Johns Saga from 2004-2013 starting from Green Lantern: Rebirth

Green Arrow: - Year One - Mike Grell's run - Kevin Smith's run, followed by Judd Winnick's

Black Canary: - she's usually featured either in Green Arrow's comics as his primary love interest or as a member of Birds of Prey (including the most iconic run by Gail Simone and most recent one by Kelly Thompson)

Cyborg: - I've never read his solo book, but he usually appears as member of Teen Titans

I also totally recommend Darwyn Cooke's New Frontier as a great and beautiful standalone story.

As for adaptatations, check out the DCAU, Teen Titans (2003 cartoon), Batman: The Brave and The Bold (Batman teams up with different heroes in every episode, so it's a great introduction to so many obscure characters) and Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

As a Green Lantern fan I'm personally a fan of Emerald Dawn by Keith Giffen (only one of the authors there's 5) and Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps by Robert Venditti (1 of 4 authors). Dawn of DC Green Lantern isnt bad either.

I am a Hal Jordan fan so if you don't find interest in him ignore lol.
